It's an old standard, basically 1x is a write speed of 150KB/s. Taken from the days of CD-ROM drives. It's basically pointless really.

Consider setting up a PXE server. On Windows you can use Serva (free) and there's of course Linux alternatives. Being able to install OS's over the network is awesome and saves faffing around with USB/DVDs, and very speedy on a gigabit cable :).

When it boots it presents you with a nice list of all your OS's, just choose the one you want and away you go.

I wash all of my buckets out pretty well but the mrs is a nightmare. She helps mix up adhesive/plaster etc but almost flat refuses to wash them properly.

Like you say tough a a quid each it doesn't really matter :D

How is having a better TV with less input lag any different? It's an advantage based on equipment you have.

Also, let's get this right. Wheels are okay and definitely not cheating Sony/MS said so? Your argument is the unfair advantage gained, so you're not being consistent.

How? Unless this is some sort of Joe 90 'Big Rat' and imprints you with being a better gamer, doubt it, you need the skills to start with.

Also 'ruins for everyone else'? So for the small minority of people who have these compared to the tens/hundreds of thousands playing without, I fail to see the validity of your statement.
