Also some panniers for my bike, ready for a trip around Wales at the weekend.

New mobo and 6950X - only a tiny packet of Haribo included :([/QUOTE]I would be less than happy about receiving a CPU flapping all over inside a box. I know it's not as susceptible to knocks like harddrives are, but I expect to receive goods packaged properly.

So you think the way it's presented there is how it was delivered?! Just the raw mobo box coming through the letter box and an open CPU box?

Mind boggled.

People don't tend to take photos of the packaging as it's 'Images of items I have purchased' rather than 'Images of the packaging in which the items I have purchased were contained'

Perhaps you missed the picture of the CPU in a deep box? I didn't mention anything about the motherboard, so I don't know where you're drawing that assumption from.

I pointed out that it seems the CPU was packaged in a box that seems far too deep for it to be held securely. My assumption is that the CPU was received in that very box and the OP just opened it up, placed it with the motherboard and took a photograph of it.

Oem cpus normally always come like that. Would have had a thick piece of foam ontop to take up the gap.

Ive even recieved a cpu from ocuk in part of a cpu tray cut off and the cpu taped (iirc) to the tray. Youd do well to harm one as theres no moving parts.

Quite why youd spend that much however on a cpu is the real question. Unless it was a tax right off or you do a crap load of rendering
