IMPORTANT ANNOUCEMENT TO SCOTLAND/NEWCASTLE/YORK REGARDING DELIVERY

Important Announcement to Scotland/Newscastle/York only. Due to adverse weather conditions our couriers are unable to guarentee delivery before Christmas for the above areas only. ALL other areas are unaffected.

thats pretty poor tbh, but I guess others will follow suit (citylink being as who we use) Ive got loads of stuff I know has to be in reading at a client next week, guess ill be taking a drive!

hmm so if i ordered a external dvd-rw i wouldnt get it at all? or just from DPD service? would i be better shopping elseware for it or is every company in the same situation ?

If you`re lucky enough to get through to your local Depot, you may end up listening to a constantly ringing Phone for 30 minutes, like i did yesterday.I guess all we can do is wait.

My cpu is in a depot 30 miles away, but you cant seem to be able to contact DPD to arrange self pickup, until you get carded 1st. Gonna scream!!!!! :(

Tell me about it, my PC had been shipped from pillar to post with no card through the door when they tried to deliver it everyday in the snow when it finally did turn up it was broke and had to be RMA'd.

Not impressed with DPD and now i'll have to wait even long so probably wont get my PC before Xmas. Just wish i didnt pay by finance or i would have cancelled untill next year when the new hardware is released :(

i think they should suspend collecting and concentrate on getting the parcels delivered they allready have

That's exactly what they are doing

They've said sorry, no more into those depots, we need to concentrate on whats in the network already.

Business collections take nothing away from deliveries. Often (like with OcUK) it's not a van that collects, it's a truck, and it goes nowhere near the local depot, it goes straight to the hub.

In other cases it may be smaller pickups but for half a days deliveries you're talking 5 minutes stopping at an industrial estate on the way back. It's really insignificant compared to deliveries.

Which is exactly what's happened with my order :(.

Yeah we often send 100+ consignments a day but where that would take a driver a day it takes a matter of minutes with us, I still cant understand why newcastle is in the list :) theres no snow left here :)

NOOOOOooOOoOO!!!

Now how will I get my PC Upgrades... I mean Christmas presents for other people?

Though I've just been from Newcastle to York today and the roads are fine. There's a bit of snow left over, but it's mostly lying in fields and hedgerows. I know there's more bad weather on the way, but they should be prepared now.. shouldn't they?

Any way it looks like if I want that new BD Drive and case fan I'll have to actually leave the house

it is not just dpd, i was speaking to our ups delivery driver today and he said they have a back log of 300 lorry loads still waiting to be delivered due to the weather

God! Thats lame. My PC is stuck in limbo at the moment and there's no chance of this according to them...

Whatever happened to the UK. You'd think we've never ever had snow. I know it's bad when you have backlogs but to just stop deliveries at Christmas is mad. Especially going from the weather forecast like they ignored the last time. What's to say it turns out wrong... deliveries are back on then back off?

How come there's never an approach we'll deal with it if and when it happens? not days before when there's no snow yet. Now soon as somebody says snow we just shut everything down.

I can see supermarkets clearing out their shelves from the mass panic.
