Important documents delivered to some other flat... but no idea who

This is what the GPS coords from the delivery gave:

Any reason why it was scanned outside the block? For reference there is quite a walk from the road there to the block doors. Did they scan it while standing outside on the grass or on the way back to the van?

EDIT: our door would be in the bottom right of this pic. So quite a way from that red marker.

Try local addresses with same number as you, but different flat block and/or road.

Thank you, doing this too :)

If it is CV19, it's more than likely the driver has signed on your behalf and left it "somewhere safe."

Deal with couriers as my business sends out 100s of parcels a day and the sheer amount of drivers who now just dump parcels on peoples door steps, in lobbies of flats and even had a driver leave a parcel in a bin at the end of someones drive, on top of rubbish, on bin day a few weeks ago.

Absolute nightmare and a real pain in the backside getting couriers to admit it's their fault when we've paid for a a "signed for" service with them trying to say that a photo of a parcel on someone's doorstep is "proof of delivery"

Yeah I’ve noticed this. Always mark it as handed to resident too.

I live in an apartment and they just leave it in the main lobby where anyone can pick it up.

Even DPD are doing that in my area, and I’m sure they used to have to take a picture of the parcel in the doorway with the door open!

Sorry to hear what’s happened @Lysander its absolutely ridiculous that it can be marked as delivered and then responsibility is removed from the delivery driver/postie etc. it’s open to serious abuse.

In these cases when has a gps marker on a map been pinpoint accurate?

If it was the regular postman, I would look out for him and ask him, Im sure he would remember if he signed something and where he put it.

That’s what I’d be doing too. Regular posties tend to deliver the recorded, special delivery letters. It’s only the different ones in vans that sometimes do the parcels separately .

The other thing that could happen is if it’s been delivered to someone genuine they’ll deliver it to you.

Most people if they receive a letter not addressed to them they’d pop it back to the right person.

@Lysander do you have a letter box on your door or is it in the foyer? Could be that the postie just put it in the wrong one by mistake

The GPS pin for my RM deliveries points to directly outside my house.

your only hope at this point realistically is that someone sends in to whatever government department or hands it into the police or somewhere.

unless it really said bins.
the nightmare of living in an apartment block.... everything I get delivered I always stress about whether they will ring the intercom or just "no access" on the system.

some will phone saying they don't know how to find my address....

Had some TNT guy delivering my passport the other week, he didn't bother ringing the first time..... second time he rings the intercom and said "if you want it you'll have to come get it" like ? are you serious?

I go down he realises I'm some big bloke and he acts all scared then comes out with "I didn't want to get lost"

there's literally only 2 different floors... it's not even a massive building they are just lazy or too time stressed to do a proper job.

anyone whos never lived behind an intercom in a block with a communal door won't realise how bad and stressful it is. with amazon I just get stuff delivered to one of their self pick up boxes in the city centre... saves me the stress

postmen seem to get in fine somehow,it makes me wonder if they have a skeleton keyfob that works on all electronic lock doors

This made me lol.

Are you sick and big or such a big bloke that he got scared.

On a serious note though I do agree with the flat thing, I actually dread anything being delivered to me as there's no rhyme or reason as to what they'll do, knock on the door, ring the bell, dump it downstairs....

'theft', lol. this is not theft, the police will not be interested. The paranoia is huge in this forum. something goes missing in the post or by courier and people assume it has been stolen. with the volume these companies handle every day, things go mossing by mistake, it happens. the chances of it being actively stolen are about the same as me getting stranded on a desert island woth nothing but the entire top 0.5% of onlyfans to keep me company.

I just called the police and they agreed that it's theft and have opened a case.

Theft? Could the postman have not just delivered it to the wrong address?

It was a week ago that it was delivered. Those documents [drivers license + marriage cert] could very easily be used for identity theft.

And yes it could be behind the bins :p but they thought it was enough of a concern for them to open a case on it.

A week ago? Ah I assumed it was recent as in yesterday.

In that case then my thoughts earlier of someone posting it through your letterbox is unlikely.

Very insightful response lol

Well hopefully you get this sorted. I know how stressful these things can be, especially when next to no one is able to offer any actual help.

Thank you very much. It's somewhere [hopefully not under a bush]. And now that the police have opened a case they will communicate with Royal Mail about it. RM will have to try to provide some answers about exactly where it went. What is the point of "tracked" delivery if the item gets lost?

Any flats in your block knowingly vacant, so you contact association to gain access to just inside the flat door to check for your missing item? Maybe postie posted to one of your block neighbours, who are on holiday, so not brought it round. Just yesterday it sounds like our regular postie gave my better half mail for one of our neighbours including a 1pm Special Delivery parcel, which should never be left with neighbours, we're only a small block of four... But she didn't realise until postie had gone!
