Discriminating? That's an interesting way of putting it
valuable members of the MM are being discriminated against
Sounds like another way of saying 'People whose primary usage of the forum is trading on MM rather than being an active member of the forum community'
Why not argue the MM needs a continuous influx of good people to make it the thriving market place it used to be?
Denying reasonable access to punish the few makes for a declining MM.
I understand there are logistics and dangers from would be crooks and I trust it can be made to work best as resources allow.
This is basically it.Because it's there to be a perk to community members to buy and sell to each other, not to be a 'thriving marketplace' for traders to make use of.
Oh give over, your making me emotional.A retrospective technicality used to revoke innocent peoples access to the MM.

The MM is a privilege, not a right. We can remove access to whom ever we want. And we certainly don't need your approval.
I agree that selfish traders are a problem. It's frustrating when I see genuine good people miss out on something they have been looking for by a few hours because they were not as reactionary as the selfish traders.
Am I wrong to argue for a thriving marketplace?
Isn't there something about good people far outnumber bad people?
How about allowing an influx of good community members to support a thriving marketplace like it used to be?
This is basically it.
The current post count rules have been in place for over 10 years, that's 10 years in which some people have not managed an average of one post per week outside of MM whilst using it, in some instances very heavily.
The original reasoning behind even having an MM was that it would be a place where people who had shown themselves to be part of the community could trade with other members of that community.
When we looked at the numbers after we'd had several "grandfathered" accounts hacked we were surprised at how many people had access under the old rules and had not posted/logged in for over a year, and how many had access but it seemed had barely posted outside of it since gaining access.
Anyone who reaches the required criteria will be able to access the MM.How about allowing an influx of good community members to support a thriving marketplace like it used to be?
I'd consider someone with a large post count and good rating in the mm as far more valuable member than some of the endless trolling and culture war nonsense that fills these forums.Access to MM is a benefit of being a valued member to the forums. 100 posts in GD and 3000 in MM was taking the mickey (and there's a significant number of people like that who are posting in this thread too).
So I am no longer a good member of this community?Anyone who reaches the required criteria will be able to access the MM.
Just like it's always been. All we've done is remove those who aren't good community members. To be part of the community, you need to participate in it.
By removing those who don't participate in the community, we've done exactly what you've asked for. You want good community members to be able to access the MM, we've removed those who aren't good community members.
To be part of the community you must participate. Get active and you’ll be back in before you know itI feel like I am being punished, have been here since 2004 and visit these forums several times a day, I am not comfortable posting willy nilly unless I have something worth saying to contribute to a given topic, I do read plenty but alas only actually had something worth saying 308 times, plus the 2 times on this topic which for some reason are not added to my tally.
I have been part of this community for 19 years and a customer for 20 years plus.
The alternative way to look at that is that you've leeched off the community for years, only actively participating in it to buy cheap stuff / offload your second hand stuff and asking for free PC game giveaways more than you've been able to conjure up the enthusiasm to engage in 'life' forum discussions or post in the technical help sections.I feel like I am being punished, have been here since 2004 and visit these forums several times a day, I am not comfortable posting willy nilly unless I have something worth saying to contribute to a given topic, I do read plenty but alas only actually had something worth saying 308 times, plus the 2 times on this topic which for some reason are not added to my tally.
