Excellent news, I have been a long time lurker that barely comments. I have seen changes over the past couple of years, sadly for the worse. There are many excellent contributors here, but too often the good is diluted by the bad. Good luck moderation team, and thanks for the work you continue to put in, in making the forum a good place to... well... lurk.
 
I agree with this decision, but 7 day really? That's like saying trolling is as bad as being offensive with a nasty swear word.

3 -> 7 > 14 Would be better

Also how would you know the difference between a troll and someone who is putting a point across that others just don't agree with. This does happen a lot!
 
Excellent move and long over due (I'm talking over a decade lol)

Could get a little quieter in the coming hours/days/weeks :p

Hopefully not and people just play nicely!

It's easy to spot trolling and baiting posts, I can see a few having their access removed sharpish as all they do is bait.

Admins or Moderators really need to make it easier to contact them though, to discuss the situation as they can get it wrong. If you get banned then a warning should be left with the moderators contact details.

It's pretty easy to spot what is and isn't constructive in a discussion.

This, all day long.
 
As long as it's applied with common sense, I got a ban for not fully starting out a not particularly bad a swear word, but a good topic gets trashed by hundreds of toxic posts of deliberate baiting and nothing is done.

I'm all for this if it's done well.
