Hello,
I recently put together a new rig with a X1900XT (Connect3D ATI Radeon X1900 XT-X 512MB GDDR3 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (3055) (GX-046-CO)) and my problems can be found in this thread: Here
It seems to be that the Graphics card is getting too hot and the system is shutting down because of the heat.
With Call of Duty 2 on more or less full settings, the card was hitting about 84oC after 5-10 minutes game play, on Battlefield 2 with more or less full settings again, the card didn't even get past the 20 second mark.
I have a few questions relating to the card - so if anyone could help me out it would be a good job.
- Is there any software available that gives an in-game reading of the GPU temperature? I hate having to press the Windows key in game, because the temp. drops from anything around 10oC to 20oC and I can't really get an accurate reading.
Furthermore, I can't record the temp. when the system shuts down, for obvious reasons.
- I'm running stock cooling on the card, would an aftermarket cooler really help matters?
- If so, which would you suggest?
I think that's about it - I understand that I may just be asking too much of the card on such high settings, but I thought it would be able to handle them no problem.
