In the year 2100

Speak for yourself sweetcheeks, I'm getting put in to a new body when I'm 80. Maybe a nice 21 year old girl, so I can have a little play, who knows?

@Diddums and @Theophany may have been taken off moderated by then :p:p

Sadly as long as stupid people exist, I am a necessary evil :(

Why's theofanny on mod? He seems harmless enough, a bit like that tramp in the park after 5 bottles of white lightning, just rambling to himself about anything :D

My genuine guess is that the current "open" internet as we know it will be gone by 2050 and replaced with a much more restrictive "Internet 2.0" which will be a whole different beast (shopping, authorised entrainment and gaming only - no access to unauthorised news/info, no opinions allowed which stray from the 'norm' of the time etc), and we'll look back at how free it is now and think "How the hell did we let it happen?".

Sounds like we’ve been conquered by China tbh

This is far fetched and will never happen in the western world. This is however the internet in some nations around the world such as NK, China and some others. Those restricted internet are likely to collapse and become the same free internet we know in the near future as the people rise up demand their right to freedom.

Cornwall could be underwater by then if global warming gets much worse
im at least 110 meters above sea level (up at the church its 213 metres) but there is a lot of places that already get near misses from a good spring tide ,i go down the gannel a lot and going from a 5.5 metre tide to a 7 metre is massive so i can see what would happen with beach level towns

It maybe far-fetched, it is just a guess after all, but we can already see the rapidly increasing amount of "opinions which may cause controversy but are not illegal" being removed from various Social Media, Youtube etc because it effects advertiser revenue, so I'm just extrapolating from that and adding 30 years of constant deplatforming, governmental legislation to make people "feel safe online" etc, to try and guess where I see the Internet going. Maybe I'm too negative and have got it wrong but I'd hate to be right!
