[In Win 901] Celestial

Doing a bit of the detail stuff today, the storage mount is cutting now but I started the day making some little 180 combs,Hans Peder Sahl designed some for a Hexgear build but I couldnt resist making some of my own.....

Looks good. Jealous of your ability to make 3D parts on demand but know that getting my own stuff would likely just lead to self-induced misery. As is, in order to ask someone else to make it, I'm forced to meticulously plan it...which is probably a good thing; even if I don't like to admit it! :D

What exactly do you need? Do you have a sketchup model?

What I need is the restraint to know when I'm being silly (and stop), the patience to plan thing rather just dive in and drive to get my finger out my backside and get things done. If you can help me with any of those, you're a better man than I!

On a serious note, thank you for the offer, it is very much appreciated. I'm currently learning SketchUp with the intention of crossing Parvum's palm with silver for acrylic porn :D
If I get sufficient justification for CNC (and I want to!) I fear I'll want my own. At that point I would be very appreciative of your experience to avoid buying a lemon.
I well know that I have had many ideas during the course of this project. If I'm honest, the ability to take action immediately would have been a mixed blessing. Wasting my own time and materials is probably the way to go...but if I come up with an urgent one-off in the meantime...:D

Regardless of the results (which alone are impressive) the workmanship involved is inspiring...it just takes a little more insight to appreciate it.

If you are really wanting to get into 3d modelling and getting parts made then get a copy of Solidworks. If you want stuff made, you can show me your model and I can tell you if it can be made or not, there are a few limitations to machining which is not always apparent when making your base model. You get bet your bottom dollar that the machine shop wont tell you it cant be made and will do it anyway.....

Love the look of those combs, just out of curiosity how much do they cost to make as they are excellent. :)

Looking forward to seeing everything painted and finished as this project just keeps getting better and better :D

About 25p in materials and 15 mins of machine time.....about a £5 a piece retail from me.

Sorry about the delay in updates,I have had to have surgery for a DVT which has kind of left me unable to mod right now beyond tinkering...

This is how my leg looks...2 weeks on.

4 procedures in 4 days has left it a bit...... broken. On the upside,it wont take long before im back on my feet and getting this build buttoned up!

So...

Its been a while.....

But not forgotten!

First stage paint on today and I machined the plastic inserts for the side panels!

And its ma burfday intit.!

looking good buddy, have a good birthday!

Thanks fella,getting on a bit now tho...scary.

Nice paintjob! Is that a metallic base coat or have you done something devious like added sand to give it texture and then flatten it out in the gloss coat?

Have a good one and have a beer for me! :D

Its a coarse blue flake in a metallic base over black.
Because its a flake, its a rough as a bears arse but you need it to be like that to get the pop.

Brilliant to see you up and running with Celestial again. Really looking forward to seeing how you get on. The paint looks lovely - RR paint store...?

No,RR have not been very......communicative,so I just mixed what I think is as close as im willing to go,there are purple tones that I didnt put in for example.

External holes filled, now to paint the outer shell and lots of clearcoat!

I love this little In Win 901.
