Incredible amounts of dust?

I keep clean, i clean the room. It's just so bloody dusty.

The dust smells like soap so it has to be my anti perseperant

I have the same problem in my bedroom... now according to various posts in this thread, the potential reasons for this are:

Not cleaning enough
Not washing enough
Living next to a busy road
House is old and sheds dust
Too much "Sam's happy time"

Ok, well...

1. I hoover at least once every few weeks.
2. I wash frequently, shower every day.
3. The busy road is at the bottom of our big front garden.
4. House was built in the late 70s.
5. No comment...

Hmm. I may well invest in one of those dust gobblers ;)

im the same, i just wonder if each person is different in the terms of how much dust they create, from the house they live in to how the body sheds of skin

Different houses and people will create differents amount of dust.

But any dust that smells like deodorant/soap IS the dust, as has been said. Spray it on your hand and feel it - it works by blocking the pores in your underarm.

I'd just put on the deodorant in the bathroom after you bath/shower, the damp atmosphere seems to help keep the dust down. Saying that, my bathroom still gets pretty dusty from it.

Its the con of not smelling like a crotch all day

For shock value I will contribute to this thread that my room back home has not been hoovered for well over a year

I'm at uni for now so I guess nothing in there contributes much dust. Can't be hoovered, too much stuff! I will sort it eventually though ;)

Grim..

hoover more, dysons are rubbish. any hover with a hepa filter will do.
If you want to help, then get a fan/cooler with a hepa filter as well.

Depends on the house imo. My grans house has NO DUST :S even when I've been to collect post when she has been on holiday. Were as ours is dusty 30seconds after I've dusted. :S

it definitely is your anti perseperant. my girlfriends dove causes same said results when shes stays over.

you using dove? :D

on a side note, i bought a 2000watt hoover hoover last night. You'd be surprised the amount of crap it picks up in a seemingly clean room.

You learn something new every day. Just ran my finger over my PS3 to collect the dust and sure enough it smells (very faintly) of soap. I spray AP on every morning but usually while i have a T shirt on, so not sure how it still manages to make my room dusty.

Do this no dust

lol, its pretty simple, a hoover by design HAS to expell air, and lots of it, the same amount it sucks in. A really crap hoover will have a crap quality filter, or a old damaged filter, so half the dust you suck in through the front, gets expelled up into the air out the back. So 30 seconds after you're done all the dust you throw up in the air, settles and its dusty again.

A great hoover will filter out as much dust as possible(but not all) and won't simply recirculate it. Get a high quality hoover and it will collect a lot more dust and do a better job. But as others have said anti-perspirant/deodorant can be a major problem.

Some people seem to insist on spraying untold tonnes of the stuff all over their bodys, which means more missing the target and heavier usage. Personally, i do a quick spray under the arms and i'm good to go, I often forget and do it after i've put my t-shirt on which also hugely limits how much gets out to become dust in my room. INfact, i rarely hoover that much and my room rarely gets dusty ;)
