Indian Grand Prix 2011, Buddh International Circuit - Race 17/19

Barring a couple of howlers for Jenson, at 38 points ahead, he's looking likely to have beaten Lewis this season.

Lewis needs a win and a second place at the very least, with Jenson scoring very badly or not at all to get back in front now. It's probably as good as over between them now.

Shocking how blatantly Massa looks over at Hamilton in that incident though, quite right to get a penalty for that.

Vettel and Webber do not have the same Machinery beneath them. It's clear to see now, Webber can't become **** from one Season to another.

Eddie asked Horner "Jackie Steward said not even Michael Schumacher could win in a Red Bull, What did he mean by that?" Surely he's refering to Marks car ;)

Great drive from Jenson today, Vettel has then pegged no matter what. Nice to see Lewis get some justice, Massa knew exactly what he was doing.

Hopefully we won't have to put up with him wasting a top seat for very much longer.

Yet again though sick of Lewis lovesick puppy act, his interviews are terribly hard to watch.

He makes that car look slow though Pigeon Killer, it doesn't make sense.
Perhaps it is slow but Vettel is just that good? :p

Joking aside, I've no doubt Vettel gets priority when new components are released but he's also upped his level this season and his style appears to suit these tyres. Webber has the pace in qualifying but is struggling with race pace which I think is as much down to him as the car.

Perhaps this?

Agreed something really doesn't add up. Watching the on board shots from the two there is a visual difference in the way the car is performing. There's no doubt vettel is super talented but is he really that much better than webber? I don't see it.

I do. Vettel made a lot of mistakes last year so his narrow win should have been a lot, lot greater. This year he's been flawless and it's shone through. Best car + world class driver = recipe for success ;)

I couldn't believe that Massa actually got the penalty. It shows some hope that the stewards will assess each situation on it's own merit rather than using the history of past incidents to influence their decisions.

But it does highlight how the incident with Maldonado was so horrendously judged.

Anyway, decent enough race. Fantastic work by RB and Vettel, they just manage the whole weekend. They make it look so easy, whether it is or it isn't. And, the 3 performing drivers on the podium, can't say much more than that.

Easy to see why Massa feels so aggrieved from those highlights. Hamilton has gone for gaps that simply aren't there or has just turned in him in and Massa has usually come off worse apart from today which was his own fault.

Well done to India for a fantastic track..but what a boring race.

What makes it a fantastic track, if its a boring race. Great tracks make great races, sure, better regulations, a stop to having aero be so important, because we need corning to be slower to make late braking worthwhile, and to stop ruining the air for the cars behind, would ultimately lead to closer cars that can overtake more.

But a DRS zone half way down the straight, into a tight turn followed by some corners you can't pass in, and another straight, followed by corners you can't pass in.

Tracks need to be, if we have DRS< early in a straight, then you want a series of corners that actually allow, ballsy braking giving a shot at overtaking, some corners with enough space and difficulty that people will leave space and cause problems.

A great track should give good chances to pass right around to be honest.

Not a huge fan of the last race but the whole, get overtaken down one straight, use DRS to fight your way back past, that WAS interesting, but ultimately because of the way regs are, it wasn't used very often, but it certainly gave a lot of people a chance to get back at the guy who went passed. One spot to overtake, then a part where theres no way you can over take for pretty much an entire sector, and set up in a way that the car behind will always come out pretty far back, just to get close by the end of a straight, and have that disappear through another section.

Awful track basically, its interesting to look at with some weird shaped corners, but weird shaped corners aside, the extra width didn't make the slightest bit of difference. If they'd chopped all those corners down to ultra narrow ones, it all would have happened exactly the same.

Personally think the track is great and basic additions for next year (like the powerful leaf blowers to clean the dirt from the track) , which would make the races a lot better - rather than design changes from the start making the circuit narrow and completely forgetable
