Indian Grand Prix 2011, Buddh International Circuit - Race 17/19

track too green is what most of the problems were imo. With that width, if the tarmac was better you could use the extra width.
Thoughts on the race, Vettel easily won, Button far and away the best of the rest, Alonso fought through well. Webber and Hamilton look defeated this season, Hamilton looks to be about 6 or 7th best driver this season with all his problems, bad decisions et al that have been discussed at length here. My biggest thought is that we do seem to have seen his best already, and unless things change dramatically he looks like only being a 1 time wdc. He's just so up and down it's unbelievable. Also, his stock is going down rapidly, he needs a dnf for Jenson or else he's going to be well beaten this season, and his sulky demeanour is really doing him no favours...
Webber is also miles away from Vettels outright pace and I reckon he's almost given his season up, he should have been able to pass Alonso after the pit stops but he never really looked like making it, and being mugged by Button on lap 1 was dire!
Kovalainen is proving to be back to his very best, beat a Williams today and kept it clean and fast all the way through. Perhaps another chance in a top team is looking likely?

But a DRS zone half way down the straight, into a tight turn followed by some corners you can't pass in, and another straight, followed by corners you can't pass in.

I found this odd all the way through the race. Why do you have a section of the track that makes you immune from overtaking. Drivers could go slower during that section and still maintain position because it's so narrow.

Poor design indeed. They seem to design things the drivers enjoy rather than the viewers.

you of course realise that this isn't possible in general because even without taking the position, the car behind can be right on the gearbox of car infront (using your theory) and be in danger out of the last corner

the organisers did forget to organize to clean the track from the construction dirt, which should allow for better overtaking opportunities in years to come , but imo that's an understandable mistake on their part and easy to correct for next year
