Indian Grand Prix 2012, New Delhi - Race 17/20

Mathematically it's possible, no way will it happen though.. 4 drivers ahead of him in the standings.

Vettel 240
Alonso 227
Räikkönen 173
Webber 167
Hamilton 165

Is there a genuine feeling coming from somewhere that certain teams are turning some of their drivers cars down or turning off KERS to keep them in check? (I'm just picking up on the rain end of some comments)

I doubt any team would sabotage their own driver.
Ask NUTS...this is pretty much what he says about his team.

You are of course correct - a failure can happen at any point in the race, and if the team have already ******* over their other driver, there goes a possible win for the team (potentially)

I initially thought of RB forcing an issue on the KERS , but of course they are only able to monitor whats happening on the car - they cant change anything like htat , so thats not possible

Could Mark's driving style be affecting his KERS more than SV's? I seem to recall you have to drive a certain way to get the best charging cycle (or set the correct toggles up on the steering wheel) , so could Mark be "over charging" and therefore overheating his KERS?

Funny if people actually believe that.

Interesting.

McLaren likely to refit engines 1,4 & 6 for the remaining races then?

Appears unusual that they all did only one race, where as engine 3 did four!

I don't think there's anything that says they have to declare when they're reusing old engines, so where engine 3 appears to have done 4 races, they may have already reused engine 1 for one of those, if you see what I mean.

It's only possible to track when they have had to move to a new engine, not when they're swapping between a selection of used ones.

This is the bit thats a little confusing (for me at least).

Simply because they should use the same basic rule for engines and for gearboxes and yet they dont appear to (because there is a penalty for fitting another gearbox - whether its old or new - when they seem to be able to swap engines throughout the weekend upto the start of quali).

This is how it has appeared for a while anyway.

I know the gb has to last concurrent / continuous races - but the engines can be swapped and changed.

Ferrari better have some sort of update for Abu Dhabi, Waiting for the race in USA before they introduce a package will be a huge mistake.

They've already lost ground on Red Bull, 3 races to go and heading into tracks the Red Bull loves..

Push those Red Bull cars throughout the race and you may have a chance, Ferrari have already proven this year to be bulletproof reliability wise.. just need a better car on pace.

Ferrari do have updates coming for next race (along with all the other top teams no doubt).

The first few corners and straights were hair rasingly good but then the race quickly turned into the most boring of the season for me. Could've cried!

Exactly. Considering the link between the pits and the car is one way I'm confused as to how anyone would think it was possible?

kers is overheating , we need to save fuel , dont let them pit when they should.

its not that hard to ruin your own drivers race if you want to.

how does the driver know his kers is fine? how does the driver know the fuels enough to last the race at his current delta ? how does the driver know now is a good time to pit?
the drivers only have the information they are given by the team and they have to trust what they are told is correct

Bring back refuelling. At least it would spice up the strategy.

Also, I'm bored with DRS now.
