Just came back from seeing it. Really enjoyed it and can't wait to watch it again. A very fitting ending to the saga. Much better than Crystal Skull.
It was a poor film and poorly written no doubt. But she got right on my nerves. She was fine in this! The actual movie was weak but she is not the big problem its the writing the screenplay just too weak just does not work very well & the ending is too much happening in so little time! Feels so forced & rushed.
Only worked if he didn't cross the seal no?One thing that bugs me about old indy in this and kotcs to a certain extent is that our boy drank from the holy grail so he shouldnt be an old fart.
Yep.Only worked if he didn't cross the seal no?
ahh indeed, the novelisation explains it better and says why the knight aged.Only worked if he didn't cross the seal no?
Aren't you the guy who said Oppenheimer looked terrible because it didn't have any action?Saw it earlier today...honestly KOTCS is way better overall! If you disliked KOTCS then probably not a good idea to go see this!
This is the worse movie in the franchise. Good job its the last one it just ran it course ran out of fresh ideas. This movie is just lacking in so many areas. No Spielberg directing hurts a bit but mainly the story is so lightweight & the last act is so unbelievable it makes KOTCS ending look realistic
Temple of Doom still has plenty to like and a number of fantastic set pieces, even if its the weaker of the first three ( pretending 4 doesnt exist ) . The opening club scene , the mine rollercoaster , the rope bridge etc.I wouldn't be surprised if this is the worst of the five, based on the recent releases of older franchises and the fact that Spielberg is not directing it, but we're still booked in to see it on Saturday. I'm not particularly fond of Temple of Doom either, apart from Ke Huy Quan's performance.
Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade were always going to be hard to beat, Karen Allen was great in the former and Connery was an absolute G, plus the opening with River Pheonix is brilliant.
Haha thank for this tip! Even thought about cancel the tickets- but I guess I must decide for myself.Caught it yesterday
All I'll say is that no matter how low your level of expectations are..........I'd advise you to lower them even further.
Once the initial act is over (and even then, you'll have to allow for the obvious break in believability), it's all downhill at a most plodding pace.

Its not better at all the quality is way worse....you might want to cancel!Watching it this Saturday hope its not too bad. As long as it better than Crystal Skulls
Yes sadly its quite shocking quality wise...I mean I even like Skull....but I found DOD to be way below it quality wise its really shocking considering the $300m budget that they could not at least get a decent storyline sorted BEFORE production commence!Caught it yesterday

Sadly all that you say is pretty much spot on & I agree with most of it!Hmmm
Pretty meh overall, the first 20 or so mins were good then it went to 69 and it just seemed to be pretty flat.
The de-aging was good for the most part, noticed a few shonky moments in the opening sequence where it looked a little off but for the most part really well done.
What's really irritating is they had the germ of a good idea and went the wrong way with it. I think a movie where the first say 30 or so mins with the Nazi's being successful and changing time would have been a lot more interesting, then the rest of the movie is spent figuring out how it was done and putting the pieces together to fix things. You could even have a more than slightly awkward scene where Jones stops Hitler being assassinated knowing that he has to live for the war to be won by the Allies.
The whole war scene at the end really did nothing for me, yeah we got a taste of time travel but it just smacked of 'meh'. That whole scene while it looked good visually just...it woulda been a lot more interesting to see the Nazi plan work out and go back to 1939 and play things off from there vs an ancient battle that nobody really gave 2 ***** about.
I also think Ford could have done with some de-aging in the 1969 scenes, he looked a hell of a lot more aged than 24 years since the 1945 scene in the opening.
Found it more than a little cheesy that Indy got punched by man mountain German guy and just gets knocked down, yet its his goddaughter that manages to knock him out to stop him staying in the past (yeah he'd been shot and all but come on).
One review I seen after it was premiered at Cannes claimed that Indy spent a lot of scenes 'cowering behind his goddaughter', did anyone see any of that or did I miss something as I don't recall it occurring at all.
The ending scene in the apartment...Jesus Christ, talk about anticlimactic, that was like the cinematic equivalent of blue balls. Yeah his wife comes back (Mutt is dead, hooray) and Sallah pays him a visit, but that was it? For this to be the last movie I was expecting something memorable, and that was about as memorable as my last dump. Then we got the cute visual of the screen closing in on the fedora on a washing line, then it gets yoinked off. That's it?
The ending seemed to be planned out between snorting lines of coke off an expensive hookers butt cheeks, it was just so flat and 'meh' it beggars belief.
