Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny

Good to see the new Indy film being socially responsible and addressing topical issues - it will reach a large number of viewers so it's an effective way to remind everyone to feel guilty about stolen artifacts.

On one hand the writing is correct. Archaeologists do steal artefacts from indigenous people...

But I am a hypocrite who loves going to museums and looking at something and being like "wow that's interesting" so it's a crime I can get over as I benefit :D

(I totally sympathise with those who the artefacts originally belong to though)

I do love the original Indy films and one of my highlights growning up was watching the show at Universal Studios but after the Crystal Skull, I have no faith they'll make a good movie.

Nothing must change, no one should ever discuss things that were wrong in the past or bring them to anyone's attention. Everything should just stay the same because I don't like injustices, colonialism, racism and theft being brought to other people's attention.

It should be remembered that even when he was young, in the early 30's he rescued the Coronado Cross from looters, loudly, defiantly and proudly stating 'it belongs in a museum!'

Colonial theft and thievery was rampant throughout the expansion of the Empire. Most of what sits in the British Museum was stolen.

It's a throwaway line/joke. I haven't seen the movie, but I really doubt its about imperialism and colonialism!

Had a quick look at the twitter feed that C Kent posted the image from. Wish I hadn't now. It's just a text based version of critical drinker :D :D

I just grabbed the pic from another forum, why do folks feel the need to go through someone's post history? Does it make the quote invalid or something?

Let me interject my 'woke' sociopolitical commentary from the 2020's into a movie that's primarily set in the 1960's, so stunning, so brave.

Why so mad? If you post a youtube video or a twitter link or instagram, it's quite normal for people to check out what else the content creator has posted. It's just called reading and educating yourself :)
(sometimes I do it incognito mode to avoid messing up my watch history etc)

What forum did you get it from? I really want to know so I can also visit the same forum and see what other cool stuff is posted there! It' generally how the internet and world wide web works.

I mean… notwithstanding that earlier films have already made references to Jones’s dubious practices, the first film itself is literally called: Raiders of the Lost Ark :o :p

Swear people spend far too much time looking for something to be offended about. Such **********.

As if snow flakes is censored lmao

Yep, mad, angry, upset, offended, pick your adjective :D

Most posts in this thread, every post negative, no interest in watching this film, some sort of beef with Kathleen Kennedy. Clearly spending a lot of time reading about this film, browsing forums, looking at memes, reading story leaks and rumours, watching youtube videos. Upset when people look at the sources you post. I am sure you have spent more time looking into this film than the total runtime of the film.

It's not really happy behaviour in my opinion!

Amused, the word you are looking for is amused. Amused that Hollywood hasn't seemingly learnt the lessons from previous IP's that have failed spectacularly.
Most posts in this thread,
nope, and even if I did so what? When you have conversations with people your post count will increase, maybe I should stick to a post and run style like others?

any examples?

If by a lot of time you mean checking this thread occasionally when it's updated and on another forum, sure I guess so /shrug

Personally, i find it funny that the automatic defense of certain folk is to jump to attacking the source (in this case person who posted the 2 lines of dialogue) rather than comment on the content of the picture in question. Then again it is standard leftist tactic 101, attack the messenger not the message.
It's not really happy behaviour in my opinion!
and yet 3/4 of your posts in the thread are complaining about another poster, how ironic.

Let us not forget that the 60's was the start of the civil rights movement?

Edit: Deleted comments, I don't want to derail the thread anymore. I guess we will have to disagree and accept that certain people in this sub get their amusement by posting in threads of content they have no interest in.

I’ll venture to the cinema to see it even if reviews are average - it’s Indi!

The run time is a little worrying… 2 hours 34 mins… that’s a chunky length of time longer than the classics. Can it justify this extended length…?
