*** Infestation: Survivor Stories ***

It was like that? Not played since Thursday so I guess it's all changed.

Yes, roughly played it on and off yesterday for around 4 hours and I couldnt find any decent loot anywhere. Just Candy bars lol.

I logged into one server and as soon as I spawned this guy made a beeline for me and killed me with a Hammer.

I'm guessing that this is one of those games where your encouraged to buy stuff.

I dont really want to hate on this game as it is Alpha but it is sure frustrating to play.

You're really not. People have been buying things from the Marketplace because it is Alpha and things have been made cheap purposefully so that people get to play around with it a bit. The only advantage the Marketplace gives you is that you can buy food and supplies, bags, and ammo. That's it. You can't buy weapons (apart from the baseball bat in Alpha so that people have a chance). The idea is to find what you need in the world.

I haven't played since Wednesday evening now, but my understanding is that you're only able to access the Global Inventory in the designated safe zones - which are presumable where the civilian populace will reside and hand out missions. This was implemented so as to stop people loot farming with no repercussions or threat; now what is in your inventory stays in your inventory until you use it, drop it, or make it to a safe zone and place it in your Global Inventory.

In my mind it makes perfect sense - it's no different to a Bank on WoW.

I am playing it every couple of days to see what they fix and how it turns out, i logged in today and everyone seems to have a sniper rifle. It's kinda lame, especially when it's so easy to kill with it.

It wouldn't be as bad if it was similar to DayZ with the bullet drop, zeroing, using mil dots etc but in this you aim at your target and kill them cod style for an instant kill.

There has been quite a lot added though, so that's a good thing.

What I find weird is that once you get to a safe zone you have to log out to buy stuff. So your logging in to log out well I had to anyway.

It just seems to be an uneven playing field as there appears to be hardly any loot in the towns yet lots of people have guns.

Dayz is hard but at least you could use the environment to your advantage like darkness etc.

i agree that it is silly that you have to log out of the server to access the global inventory and marketplace when you are in the safe zone but i think they will change this so you can do it in your inventory before release.

towns usually don't have a lot of loot as they have been picked dry by people and are usually pvp hotspots that you want to avoid unless your in a group.

i've found the best places for loot if your alone and unarmed are the outlying farmhouses and camp sites up in the north of the map near the big lake.

Really? Maybe it's just the distances that you've been engaging / engaged at - when I've been using it I've had to compensate for bullet drop and travel time quite a bit...

You can use the environment in this though. Remember that all the clothing isn't really accessible yet, but you can hide in the darkness - however I do feel it needs to get darker at night; they're using the same skybox constantly (which doesn't actually fill the sky like a skybox should anyway...), it would be nice to see some variation or pure cloud cover, let it get to pitch black or so.

For the time being the Global Inventory access has to be kept to the main menu - the NPC interaction isn't finished yet hence no missions and limited access. I'll be very surprised if you can't access the GI from within the game come release.

I seem to find most people skirt through towns quickly, or they really aren't concentrating when they are searching for loot. Several times I've watched people go in to buildings and have a search around, only for me to go in once they've left and found useful items they've left (guns, ammo, medkits etc).

But yes, solo looting at the remote locations is definitely the best!

Yes they opening up more next week.

If you know the specific route up one of the hills, you can actually go and run around the rest of the blurred out map, like I did. There's absolutely nothing there though at the minute, it's just plain textures. You can see some of the layouts for the other villages though! ;)

Well it didn't with me when i had one, just so easy to shoot people even a moving target. It is one of my major gripes with this game, weapons just feel to arcadey and COD like.

I think i've been spoiled by Arma's engine, as most games feel like this now to me.
