*** Infestation: Survivor Stories ***

Its pretty terrible really feels like a very badly done game so far. Not holding much hope for it lasting long.

You have not played the finished product yet though so I have no idea how people can pass judgements. If nothing changes then fair enough but it is still Alpha as far as I know, beta was pushed back....... Either way still not retail

It doesn't matter, you can get a feel for the game before it's even released. I played DayZ the same amount of time when it first came out and have now put in over 500 hours into it and still enjoy enjoy it.

I am not bashing this by the way, others may like it and i didn't was just giving people my view. If you bought and played this and you have played DayZ, you will understand what i am saying.

Hope the people who enjoy it carry on doing so though, it did have things i really like just was a little to arcadey and clunky for my liking.

I did buy this and I played DayZ from day 1 :)

DayZ would be perfect but Rocket messed up Zombie detection many patches ago, they seem to have got it right on this though.

But hey I will reserve judgement on DayZ until he makes it retail, fingers crossed he fixes it then. Either way I will still buy DayZ as well due to the fact I had many hours of fun until whatever happened with the zeds.

I found DayZ clunky & buggy, silly little things really put me off like the running animations, falling off ladders if you climbed with a gun in your hand, graphical glitches and so on. Also don't get me started on the hacking problem. I'm about 60 hours in War Z and yet to see or die from a hacker.

The other thing in War Z favour is it works out of the box, the amount of problems that people have with getting DayZ working well is unreal. That doesn't detract from DayZ when you get it working but it's a royal PITA at times.

Also, this is fun, I enioy this, the whole time I was in DayZ it felt too real (zombies excepted of course), I play games for escapism, if I want real i'll walk out my front door.

All said though, when DayZ goes standalone i'll buy it and then make a proper comparison, at the moment, it's really unfair to compare the two. It's like iOS and Android, pick the one you like and shut the **** up :D

So as I haven't been able to play this since the Alpha was first released (that single week), what's changed (or hasn't) that has caused so much hate from people and the mass-refunding? I was really enjoying it right from the off!

same

I think according to most because it's more arcade than it is sim Arma 2

Could be wrong?

Only things i really hate at the moment is the rate of damage with a hammer and a zombie aswell as the death-QUIT-Create new character-Relogin to server!. It should not take 40+ hits to kill one zombie with a hammer because many o time it took that long :(

Really? People actually thought this was going to be like the simulator-esque approach of DayZ? That's their own fault if that's the case, it was never shown to be like that!!

I quite like the arcadey feel to it, it's a refreshing change. Heck, the zombies pose a threat on WarZ; DayZ's only threat is other players.

How much has changed then? The zombies were difficult to kill to begin with, but usually two accurates whacks to the head would drop them - are you hitting the body?

Need to get this college net sorted so I can get online again!!

I've been playing this a lot, including a 4 hour session last night, and I've never had to hit any of them that many times. It's usually around 4 or 5 hits with a basic hammer to kill them... but sometimes a couple of strikes does it. You get the occasional mad one where it seems to take 10-15 hits before it goes down, but they've been pretty rare.

You know you have to hit them at the top of the head, right?

DayZ has plenty of problems, i won't even lie just for some reason i prefer it and have much more fun with it. I won't knock WarZ though as in the end some will like it and others will not.

It was made easier with programs like DayZ Commander and Six Updater but that is mainly down to it being a mod and having to faff around. Hopefully when the standalone comes out there will be less faffing around. Hacking is a major problem but if you find a good private hive it is normally fine (touch wood).

I will say they are very different though other than both being the zombie genre they are different in terms of gameplay, atmosphere and the way they play and handle. I would say they are both worth a try to anyone who wants try both, as they are both good in their own ways. :)

Just had an awesome run, 3 m4's, an ak74m, an akm, 2 mp7's, loads of 9mm, sig sauers and a lot of ammo.

The airfield and cargo plane are laiden with loot.

Did have a crap my pants moment, was looting, turned around saw a guy approach, i went prone, he got closer, spotted me and pulled his shotgun...wrong move buddy!

So... can you actually kill zombies with the flashlight?

Yeap, takes a lot of hits though and looks like you are having a disco if it is night time. Lucky you can just hold the mouse button and it will auto hit over and over. I am still yet to find any guns, I only find water and chocolate bars.

I'm in third person mode so...

Get in first person mode when doing melee! The zombies will only go down from a whack to the noggin'! :D

If and when I do get back on this again, will be interesting to see the map changes - one of my characters was up in the mountains surrounding the Eastern "Safe Zone" (I was there before it was implemented) and another one is near the Western edge of the map - the whole thing, not the playable area; the devs need to learn how to clip walls and terrain properly!

Ah right, thanks guys :D

I was wacking away like a hammer to a nail in a cement block

Must admit i do like my Dark Skull Mask and shotty :p

The Producer has started posting on the forums now, opening up with the post below...

The yanks crack me up, the first reply to this was "Wiping all inventories could lead to a large class action lawsuit"... :D

Here's the post...

WarZ Producer said:
Hello all,

Many of you have noticed my rather sudden presence on the forums here. For an informal introduction, my names Tyler, and I'm the Senior Producer here. Much of my time has been spent behind the scenes on development, but now you'll find me more present, and I will endeavour to answer your questions.

The bottom line here is that we love our community, and you are all a very important part of the development process. Your feedback and testing is helping us to put together the best possible game we can.

Now, to some of your questions.

The wipe:
- We will be wiping all inventories
- We will be resetting player's reputations
- We will also reset all gold coins. Any you received through purchase of a package WILL be given back to you (so you will lose nothing you paid for)
- We will be resetting all characters stats
- We do not, however, have a final date. I assure you this is something at the forefront of my mind, and as soon as we get it settled I will let you all know

Item Spawns
There have also been some complaints about item spawns (ie food doesn't spawn often enough, too many weapons spawn in certain areas, no weapons in others). I'll be sweeping the map confirming a proper distribution of item spawns in the coming days to mitigate any issue there.

Also, hats! So many damn hats! To fix the issue of hats taking up item spawns, we'll be implementing a fix that causes spawned items to despawn after a certain amount of time, freeing up those slots.

PvP vs PvE
There's been a number of discussions about PvP and PvE. When Stronghold servers are up and running (and we'll have a bunch of smaller super sexy maps for you as well) these can be password protected, so you can run your server as you like.

Social
Clans are in active development and will be done next week. These will add a clan tag to the users name, and members of a clan will be able to see clan mates in game by an icon over their heads.

Friends! Friends list, join game with friends, and seeing your friends in game is next in the queue after Clans.

I hope that clears up a few things- a big part of my time will be spent with the community, figuring out the big issues and keeping an open line of communication with you about progress on the items you are most concerned about. You'll also see survey's popping up on Facebook, here, and when exiting the game. Please please PLEASE answer these, as they really help us out.

Thats it for now - I'll see you in game!
