Merry Christmas to you all. I hope you've had a great day and are enjoying time with those you love.

On a slightly more depressing note, my grandmother passed away yesterday and left me a significant amount of cash which I have no idea what to do with.

I want to save it somewhere but no idea where to start looking. I'm not planning on spending it all, but I will be getting a new DSLR body to upgrade from my 7D to the 7D MK ii, the rest will be places in a savings account.

What are your suggestions?

(P.S - No "give to me" obligatory posts please :D )

ISA for now, save it for house deposit.

Stocks if you know what you are doing.

Give it to me if you are feeling the Christmas Spirit.

I suggest the last option.

Depends how much it is really. May be worth speaking to a financial advisor if it's a lot.

Wow what a tasteless thread, she only died yesterday.

Money is usually what most people are concerned about when people pass away, true colours are shown. Not to say that it applies to the OP.

Not really your place to say is it? You don't know anything about the circumstances!

Not that much!

You posted it on a public forum...

As for the circumstances, what else is there to know that means it's not tasteless? My view is that it's tasteless to make this thread so soon. What circumstances do you think will change this?

Not really sure what you're hoping to achieve with this thread. It's going to be hard to suggest stuff without you providing a lot more info.

Meh he's wants to make the most of a gift from a deceased relative. Getting help isn't tasteless.

It not like he appears happy about it now does he. I'm sure he'd prefere his grandmother to some cash.

When i die, i would want the people who inherit whatever i have at that point to make the utter most of it whenever they feel necessary ! Be it the same day i die or three years later! It isn't being left for them to look at.

Do what your dear Grandma (RIP) would've wanted you to do with it, blow the lot on hookers and coke.
