** INSANE SAMSUNG 1440P 27" MONITOR 24HR DEAL!! **

It is tempting, but the fact it's a 2-year old monitor that has be a bit concerned. The reviews are average also. Given the next 2560x1440 monitor OCUK sells is the Acer K272HUL at £320, which will be a newer model and panel... I'm still leaning more towards a 29" 21:9 myself. Just more of a 'wow' factor, albeit with a slight hit on the vertical resolution.

You are aware 1440P panel technology in these monitors is all from same era, Acer, AOC all the 1440P are using the same panels. ;)

No difference!

Acer and AOC are also stock clearance deals at their prices, those too were originally £400+ screens.

1440P has not changed, the only new 1440P which has come recently is the TN based one with 144Hz in the Swift. LG/PLS 1440P is an old technology that came out like six years ago. :)

Yes EOL, Samsung built to many, did not sell enough and all of a sudden a 1440P high-end panel no longer sells for £600 so they have to do crazy deal, the catch is I have to take all the remaining stock.

But at £299 they are flying out, it is just like £200 below the price they are supposed to sell them at. :D

Thanks for the inside info!

So I have a question Gibbo... Given the £300 price and that it's mainly for games is this 1440p the one or the LG 21:9 29UB65-P for example? I've settled on the Samsung but having not used a 21:9 have I made the right choice in your opinion?

the stock needs approval right from the top due to the huge loss of money on this deal. It should get final sign off end of this week and be with us end of next week.
Am i reading that correctly that you started taking customers money for preorders two weeks ago but the stock and pricing has yet to be even signed off by top brass at Samsung?

The deal is confirmed as ours, so we are fine to take money. Now it's just going through Samsungs procedure to ship the stock out the door at a loss.

You are correct, but following that line of logic would suggest all 1440p monitors are the pretty much the same and therefore reviews would reflect this, all ending with a blanket statement of "buy anything you like, they're all the same..." but that obviously isn't the case. ;)

Well no, He's only saying there's no difference in the Panels, so it's like cars with the same engine, there's lots of other parts which effect the overall performance of the unit (be that Monitor or Car)

Just in case this idea that all panels are the same is being taken a bit too literally, isn't this a PLS panel rather than the more widespread IPS?

Stop posting in this topic, the temptatiojn is too great & Im already struggling to decide if i should get one or not

seeing this topic every day is crushing me

So is this monitor actually any good then or is it worth paying that bit extra for a different 1440p panel? I don't care about 144HZ nonsense. Just a great quality image with acceptable lag times for gaming. Mainly I want great picture quality.

Exactly what I would like to know.

It's average based on reviews I've seen, perfectly decent. Nothing that'll blow you away, but for this price, it's a good deal. Probably depends what monitor you're coming from.

Theres plenty of reviews on google from 2 years ago

I found a couple of old reviews but not exactly plenty and not a lot of positive feedback from owners. Feel free to post the links if you've had better results.

In my case a Dell U2412M.

Well after a bit of thought, I've cancelled my order.
Just not sure about this monitor any more, or if they will turn up.

Of course they will turn up!

OcUK has never put an item on pre-order that has not actually turned up, were not like our competitors who advertise a product or price, take orders and then tell customers oh sorry it is never coming.

Anything we put up on pre-order always arrives, we've never failed our customers once in such a regard, not once!

Sometimes stuff is late because when I am getting deals so crazy they can take some additional time to get signed off because deals like this cost manufacturers thousands of dollars to ship out.
