Been meaning to create a thread on this for a while.
I'v been suffering with sleeping issues since 2009, and the only thing I can describe it as is insomnia.
Its a strange one. I cant pin down the reason why I have developed sleep issues.
Let me highlight its progression overthe last two years.
I remebr talking to people back in 2009 about sleeping issues, which is how I know its been going on sfor so long.
Back in 2009 it used to be that I would struggle to get any sleep on the sunday night before work, but then I would be ok, monday night etc...
Then it started creeping in to Monday night as well. So I would sleep 0 hours on Sunday, and then same again on Monday.
Aover time, this has progressed to some weeks where I will have issues sleeping on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday nights, but then fine the rest of the days.
Other times, I miracoulsly sleep on the Sunday, but then Monday and Tuesday will have issues.
Other weeks, I can go a whole week and sleep 7-8 hours each day including Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
This week I struggled on Sunday and Monday, sleep Tuesday, but then struggled on a Wednesday.
After about 2 years of these, I went to the doctor, and he prescribed me some week sleeping pills.
Usually they work. However some times my insomnia, is a stronger force than the pills and is able to resist!!
When I manage to stay awake against my will after taking a pill, the next day, I feel rotten and dirty, as well as being spaced out.
It is a bit of a problem for me. I feel like Im a different person when I'v sleept, and at present thats one - two days a week, during the working week, im constantly in a state of insomnia or sleep deprevation.
In fact the only way I can sleep on a work day, is if im sleep deprived. If I get a good 7-8 hours sleep on a work day, I may struggle to sleep if im not sleep depreived.
My normal bed time is about 1-1.30am and my wake up time is 9am.
Oh I will list the remedies I'v tried but no luck so far:
1. Staying off computer for the last hour, before bed and reading.
Verdict - fail
2. Switching from showers to baths, becuase supposedly showers refreshes you and bath relaxes.
Verdict - fail
3. Herbal sleeping pills
Verdict - fail
4. Melatonin pills
Verdict - fail
5. Sleeping pills
Hmm 7/10 times they work.
I havent tried lavender oil as I have been suggested.
Any ideas guys?
Also, even during the Xmas holidays, with no work to go to, I had some sleeping issues, where I just could not fall asleep.
I think that sleeping is either a skill you can lose, and only realise it is a skill when you'v lost it, or that being an insomnic is in a way a skill you can learn and get better at with practice.
