Yeah, these glues aren't hard to remove, you just need suitable solvents. If you ever accidentally superglue yourself to something, gin, vodka or similar will help free yourself, nail varnish remover (often acetone) will do a better job, and I presume the Police carry specialist solvents that work better than these generics.

Thanks, haven’t seen those, part of me hoped that they suffered at least some pain in having the glue removed, but even I’m not so vindictive that I wanted to see their faces and palms ripped off, but I may be in the minority there.

I have quite mixed feelings in that I support the right to protest and think that sometimes things need radical protest for actual change to happen - at the same time I don't see this is such a pressing issue either in the short term or for the greater good long term to justify the approaches they are taking, some of which have had a high chance of causing serious accidents with tragic results - so I say **** em.

I think they're idiots, and I wish they'd stop undermining the environmentalist campaign with their imbecilic actions. But the idea that law enforcement should brutalise people because they annoy us is totally beyond the pale.

I guess you missed my earlier post where I said remove a couple of them to let cars get through and then just leave them glued to the road.

Quite frankly I'd prefer it if the police did their job and dragged them away by any means necessary. But seeing as that doesn't seem to be an option for some reason then leave them glued to the road. They are betting on the fact someone will remove them. Deny that to them and the less die-hard will start to think twice. At the very least it will dwindle their numbers.

I see they have been gluing themselves to the road. Unglue one or two protestors and arrest them. Then put a barrier around the others so cars can drive past safely and leave the rest of rent-a-mob glued to the road. Let them sort out their own removal once they get thirsty or desperate for the toilet. Arrest them when they somehow remove themselves.

Just counter protest them. Every time they block a road burn all your recycling. Better still put tyres next to them - at a safe ish distance and burn them. Set light to trees. Kick a penguin in the nuts.

By obstructing the road they're committing an offence under Sec. 137, Highways Act. There's also several court ordered injunctions against the group, ordering them not to block the roads so they're also in contempt of court.

Oh definitely - but I don't have a problem with protests in general, even sometimes when more radical steps are taken. But I take a very dim view when they potentially put at risk people who are just trying to go about their day.

And then remand them in custody on the basis that they fully intend to continue breaking the law.

The police have the powers to stop this quickly, they just haven't used them. The actions, not the motivation, is what matters, and the actions shouldn't be tolerated.

It's unrealistic because it ignores how these protests work. They don't ask for themselves to the road, they have plenty of other people around, and more who can easily get to the scene. All they have to do is run in and block the cleared area.

While sincerely appreciating your desire to help me, I’m afraid that I collapsed in a heap at the thought of spooning my skin from the work surface a mm at a time, I’m a founder member of “big girls blouses are us.”
Remember, it’s MY surface skin that we’re talking about.
