What I posted on another forum:

From a little playtime, I know it's supposed to be a realism mod and all but it really needs a way of showing when you've killed someone either through the usual way or maybe the character saying something. Shooting at someone and having no idea if you killed them or not isn't that fun, and just dying isn't any better either, all people will do is spam open the leaderboard and check when they've killed someone anyway?

The picking your kit will need to be changed when if this mod really gets popular it'll just end up with people whining and TK'ing someone who has a kit that they feel should be theirs.

Also I'm a little bit worried about this mod in the long term, it feels like the sort of mod that if you don't start early the community is going to get so far ahead you'll just be dying over and over without any idea what's going on.

Also the weapon selection interface that appears in game when you switch between your weapons, while looking nice, you don't need something so detailed and 'complex' when you're switching your weapon.

I can definitely see with some hard work and maybe taking a hit on the realism a little bit, this could be a very popular and enjoyable mod.

Edit: If there is anyway possible with a mod you guys really need a Basic Training tutorial explaining the game and modes, maybe with some combat tips aswell. I'm sure a lot of it is in the manual but not many people will read it.

I can't even figure out how to get to the "weapon selection screen". I don't mean scrolling through your kit, but the screen where you choose what weapon to have. (e.g. ar-15, 50.cal, spas12 etc)

Also the movement is odd, can't strafe when sprinting, and while realistic, the turning circle is awkward as well.

my view so far, Ive played a little and from what I can see there is a fairly steep learning curve, the whole squad/weapon change thing is not very intuitive at all (I'm really not sure how it works). On the server I was on there was some people who had been in the alpha testing and they really knew what they were doing and the gameplay seemed very tactical so I feel with effort it could become more enjoyable but right now I find it plain confusing.

buggy net code and team killers is all i've come accross so far

Agreed. Also the lack of classes, I seemed to be always stuck with the rocket guy. Still very good though.

I find it really confusing too, with no map i just get lost, and no real identifiers to who are your team mates and who aren't, i pause to look before shooting anyone and get my ass handed to me

Press "." [dot] or [fullstop] w/e to change class/weapon

This game has potential

Too linear to be realistic. I love realistic games, and the slow pace of games like Americas Army, but I love to kick the **** out of the other team too. When you get used to the map, this is easy. I just spent an hour as a sniper, when I figured out where the enemy comes from, I could take down about six or seven people a minute. I kind of annoyed myself, cause it started to feel a bit like CS. (Only played one map, are there any big maps?)

I do like the mod though, but it sure has its problems. The moment I got into my first game, the entire team were mowed down with a SAW. The guy didn't get kicked, cause there is no auto kick or anything.

I wish the sniper was not semi auto, its too easy to use (one shot kill, even in the foot). Also, the bipod us useless. Without it, you shake a little. With it you stop shaking, but movement becomes jerky and much more difficult to use.

No body knew what they were doing, the commander didn't even know he was the commander. Once he realised, no body knew what was going on. So far I have not seen any attempt to encourage team play. Besides, people are always getting stuck in each other, or in doorways.

I do like the game speed, weapons are generally great, no sprinting sideways makes perfect sense, bunny hopping is useless, it can be pretty good fun.

Performance is not good, I was getting 80fps in doors, and 23fps in the street. 1680x1050 4xAA, all high. Oh well, looks pretty nice.

No swearing

How do I uninstall the game?

There's no "delete local content" option in Steam...I'm re-downloading it to reinstall and hopefully that'll fix the persistant issue of not being able to pass the map screen.

To uninstall Insurgency just delete the Insurgency folder in your *:*\Steam\steamapps\SourceMods folder and restart steam.

To be honest I doubt that'll work as it's not corrupt or anything, can you take a screenshot of where you get stuck?

I've uninstalled it now, but basically it's the screen where it shows you the map and the objectives as you join the server. It says "Map loaded" at the top right and then I can see people are joining or leaving the server and I can hear gunfire, however that screen wont go and I can't use any buttons. In the console there is loads of red text relating to lighting problems or textures or something. The only way to get out of the game is by typing "exit" in console and I can only talk to the others by using the "say" command.
