insurgency mod

I remember this being a problem in the HL mod scene. Another FPS mod != a CS clone.

We haven't even seen in-game footage. How can it be 'surely' a clone?

You have a point sniffy, but cs set the benchmark to which every fps mod needs to reach.

From watching the trailer it looks like it could be very good indeed, with iron sights and 3D scopes becoming the norm in games now. To succeed it will need a decent community to start it off. Without that and it will just fade like the dozen other HL fps mods that looked good. It looks like it could stand out to me though.

:)

EDIT: I'm a big fan of project reality and what they're doing for BF2, this may well be its competition. I'm more of an infantry combat person myself so this may be more up my tree, if there are no bullet registry issues and faster flowing combat then I'm sold.

There is a video, on the Insurgency webby which is a bit eye candy/in-game footage. Obviously there will be comparisons with CS, as its a modern day shooter. But from the blurb its suppose to be more teamwork orientated. Which certainly isn't what CS is about.

I have been speaking with one of the level designers this afternoon and it looks like June maybe a bit ambitious. However the client file will be between 1-2gb

Yeah there is, sorry. What I meant was real in-game footage (like what a ocuk member would post up, without being edited). I think these clips are the only true representation of the feel for a game. I should have been more clear.

Seriously though, good purchase. Generally the good mods are starting to be released for HL2.

Does the 'Level Designer' know yet if Valve are going to help them with the distribution of the mod via steam yet? That would make everyones life a lot easier if its that size.
