ive just made a steam account so i can download HL2 but each time i try to connect after it has updated it just hangs there and i have to close the program.

Sometimes steam takes a long while to start up. It took half an hour once for me. It was just sitting there doing seemingly nothing before it opened up.

Just bare with it.
