insurgency mod

Im thinking of renting a server but have no idea on cost, or what you should have. Could someone tell me what you need eg
tick rate
teamspeak?
player limit
etc.....

no one knows until the game is out. but most source based games run around 24 to 32 players, usually on pretty decent specced machines provided purely as a gaming server. check out pulsegaming.com

I hope no-one is jumping into this first available download of a fan-made total conversion expecting a complete package. You guys do realise it's highly likely to be buggy and incomplete, don't you?

I only ask because there seems to be a lot of "Wow this game will be awesome!!" and "WHERE IS MY D/L LINK :(" posts, and such high expectations are going to be hard to fulfil.

I realise these mod teams are working on their own free time, but they seriously need to start learning to be a little more professional. Testing your game on it's supposed release date? Promising a date and missing it, twice? Taking a good 12 hours to actually inform your community that there is a problem?

And now thanks to some deal they have with FilePlanet a mod that is good to go is now delayed to FilePlanet can get their exclusive three hours at a good time.

Id much prefer a game that worked today than have it launch yesterday and require a patch in a few days time.

As for the Fileplanet thing, then it is a bit annoying but by the same token, they are damn good at what they do and if you do have a subscription then you are always going to get good d/l speeds. Plus it means the mod developers can get the mod known pretty quick and have a failry decent user base at launch

Should be noted that the devs has promised download links on the Ins forum at the same time as the FP release - looking after their community more than some devs do.

Current hype on the forum suggests it's but an hour or two away now...apparently they're creating the installer package and about to upload it to FP. Should be ready for when I get home from work anyway :D

I think they are talking all this up tbh, the traffic on their forum the last day or so could almost put this place to shame. I think thats the idea.

They've already missed the release date on the main page.

Their forum and mod's leave a lot to be desired. So does the behavour of most in there.

I'm going to stop holding my breath now...

back to css :p

Apparently, they've been fixing one last bug, and are creating the installer, and its done. Well apart from uploading it.

I read that too, and that story has been coming 'out' for days.

Nothing new.. afaik

Really looking forward to this.

We'll hopefully have a server or 2 up at BFB shortly after release, feel free to stop by and check it out.

Could be a few hrs yet...still waiting on the installer package to be done, then they have to upload it which could take ages depending on their connection... im not holding my breath!

Agreed. It's the community's fault for asking time and again for a release date then when they give us one bitching about it not being ready in time. Anyone who knows software development knows it's never early.
So it's my fault they announced a release date?
