Intel 10th Gen Comet Lake thread

Different for me 9900k at 5ghz 1.35 as well under rendering it was hitting 90a Corsair 280 aio. They're hot af. Sold up went ryzen 3900x big performance boost and temps stay around 54-58c full load oc

it's because rendering uses all cores, but he thinks you are fake news, he thinks every 9900k owner just plays games

Well then, you ended up with a better CPU for your particular needs, rendering.

My beef is with people who try and make out that the 9900K will run at unmanageable temps ,no matter what they're being used for. For gaming, which a lot of 9900K's are bought for, they don't really run that hot.

When will preorders start on these?

You're not actually thinking of buying one, are you?

I'm a 9900K owner and think its a great CPU but for goodness sake, don't do it.

The Z490 is a dead end platform and Zen 3 will be along in a few months with better options at a cheaper prices.

You aren't serious? Z490 is dead platform, the ethernet doesn't work to advertised speeds, except the very expensive boards the rest don't support PCIe 4.0 let alone the 20 lanes layout of the 11 series that comes in 6 months.

This is a another Z270-Kabylake moneygrab to make the whole platform redudant in just 6 months.

I’m about to get a Lenovo Ideapad Flex 3, prices on this seem reasonable for the N5030. I’m even using employee discount to get it for £230. Unfortunately it’s only 4GB RAM but I might chuck Linux on it if Windows struggles with that.
Does it have an SSD slot?

you'd have to be stark raving mad to buy into 10th gen Intel, when AMD is said to be near to releasing it's 4th gen ryzen chips before the year is out and the ipc gain for AMD is around 15-17% higher than 3rd gen, further improvements to power usage and possible higher boost clocks.

is it the lure of possible 5.3ghz+ all core clock's thats suckering people into Intel's hype train, have people thought about the power requirements, up to 350w just for the cpu is down right stupid!

if ppl are serious about Intel, skip 10 gen and get a 9th gen system instead, prices are going to drop allowing you to get very good performance for relatively cheap, plus the power usage will be high but no where near what 10gen will pull

Unfortunately not, and no sign of when they’re going to release higher spec variants (promising up to 8gb RAM, Full HD and 256GB SSD) and live chat didn’t know when they’d materialise either.
The base spec with Pentium N5030 will suit my needs fine, especially for the price, shame about the phantom-nature of the better models.

I was stupid enough to buy a 9700k and have been having frametime issues with it since purchase. I was gonna grab a 10700k as a cheaper 9900k with higher clocks and better temps. From what I've read the z490 is actually future proof for tigerlake later this year which is why they introduced the lga1200 socket the extra 49 pins are for pcie 4.0 and power but comet lake doesn't support pcie 4.0 yet but the motherbords are hardware ready for it so I can just grab a tiger lake cup when they come.

Its pretty much advertised all over the retail boxes and both roman and gamers nexus have stated it in their videos and TTL has heavily hinted at it without breaking NDA. Its the only reason socket 1200 exists

I would grab a 9900k but they are so stupidly overpriced
