Intel 10th Gen Comet Lake thread

"
Conclusion
Based on our testing using the PCIe 4.0 Ready graphics card, we can see that there is no gaming performance boost or improvement yet when using the PCIe 4.0 standard over the PCIe 3.0 standard. As I have mentioned above that this is one aspect of the PCIe Gen 4. There is a high-speed storage aspect which I think would yield some fruitful results on the PCIe Gen 4. I will be doing some testing after securing the Gen 4 based SSD to put in writing the Part-II of this content. Till that time, Nauman is signing out."

Of course you can have both PCI3 and PCI4 GPU's on the same system...............just not at the same time.

That isn't true, I have run a 5700XT at PCI-E 4.0, and a RX 580 at PCI-E 3.0 at the same time on the same system. There wasn't any point in doing it at the time, other than to load up the motherboard slots with power draw trying to find a fault on the motherboard itself :D

And clearly fx1 = confused.

Show me any proof PCI-e4 has any impact at all on games.

Tell me how doubling the bandwidth is going to increase performance of graphics cards that cannot saturate a 16x PCI3?

Ask this question again in 8 days and we'll have an answer for you

No. What you have there is a PCI 4 chip and board turned down to PCI3.

Not the same thing.

As ive pointed out there doesnt seem to be any performance difference when you do this either.

Yes, actually your right. Just re-booted and had a look in the bios of my CH8 and you can choose different PCI gens for the GPU slots.

So come on then, tell us all what mobo, cpu and gpu you actually have ?

How do they test the fact its not platform differences? Im guessing they have no way of having both PCI3 and 4 on the same system.

Ive found benchs which show 0% difference and others which show differences that make zero sense such as fortnite which is a cartoon game....

By doing multiple runs, if its consistent its verified, Hardware Unboxed are one of the best reviewers, he knows what he's doing.

You use the same platform, as has been said you can't run PCIe 3 and 4 at the same time but what you can do is use the same rig and switch the motherboard between PCIe 3 and 4.

The 5700XT is currently the fastest PCIe 4 GPU in existence, and it is fast but there is faster even right now and we are about to get a whole new line up of PCIe 4 cards that are much faster, if you can prove a difference with a 5700XT just wait to see what PCIe 3 does to an RTX 3090.

It kind of doesnt matter though does it. The AMD CPU will wipe out the gains and then more (if there are any gains)

Im skeptical we will see any difference but we will find out soon enough.

The last bastion.

At 4K performance would be identical between both CPUs but this is where gen4 might come into play for a slight advantage.

Exactly...........and don't forget those 2 or 3 fps make ALL that difference....................................................................................well, the Intel fanboys have been telling us that for the last couple of years anyway, so it must be true.

Are you claiming that AMD CPU's beat intels best in game benchmarks? Because i have yet to see any evidence of that.
No, I'm refuting your claim that an AMD processor somehow "wipes out" performance. Actually no, I'm done acknowledging your presence. You're either just trolling or a beligerent child who's stubbornly sticking to his outdated knowledge and getting argumentative when proven wrong. Don't engage me, please.

Well i never invited you to comment in the first place. I couldnt care less either. A PC to me is a machine that plays games. Its clearly your entire life.

If you want to sit here and argue about small performance gains or losses then thats up to you.

What i will do if a faster one comes out is just buy that. I really couldnt care less. the cost of this hobby is 1% of the cost of my other ones.

Maybe spend less time on the forums and more time earning and you too will be wealthy enough not to care..

Gamers nexus just put a video out on the 10850k.

OCUK price on this chip puts is as the best performance per £ for gaming by considerable margin. compared to the 10900k and 10700k

Interesting that it looks like overclocking is totally redundant for games with this chip which is a great place to be as you get all the performance without any of the power and heat problems.

Just ordered the 38GL950G LG 38" ultrawide and cant wait for the 3080/3090 launch now to finish the build.

11th gen seems pointless for just PCI gen 4 when ddr5 is coming out with a new socket in 12th gen.

Indeed, but they have to release it, as they promised 2 gens in one socket, and even then they might run into compatibility issues, as the mobo manufacturers had to in part guess.
12th gen is likely 18 months away anyway
