Intel 8 Core i7 7820X Unlocked CPU/Processor

In the article it stats power/performance - a 50% increase in power/performance usually equates to around 20-25% performance increase when biasing for performance or a bigger gain in power reduction when biasing for power efficiency.

Still more than the 3-5% we've been getting lately though.

I really do belive AMD will have intel nailed when 7nm zen comes.
Then intel will catch up and we get to do it all over again :)

One can hope, but GloFo always seems to have issues and are behind Intel, IBM, and Samsung in their processes. Even after using the same designs as those big 3.

Aye, but as mentioned it'll be more significant going from 14nm to 7nm. Considering AMD is 5-7% behind Intel at the moment for IPC; even if GloFo only manage a 20% increase going from 14-7nm it would really really help. Put them ahead in fact, even if they can't also increase clocks.

Although, best would be if AMD can finally shed their exclusivity contract with GloFo; and start using TSMC, and Samsung as well.

AMD's console SoCs are all made at TSMC still; which looking at the current XBOX Scorpio SoC seems impressive. 40 CU custom Polaris and 8 CPU cores that actually does well.

No it won't; Intel's 10nm is almost similar to GloFo's 7nm process and Intel has always the higher IPC and frequency, so, no.
