• Competitor rules

Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.

Intel admits it won't catch up with AMD's 7nm chips until 2021

First up you stated the 1700x Then posted a table for the 2700x. Both of which are basically EOL now anyway.
OFC if you wish to go buy a first gen ryzen i doubt anyone will try and stop you.

Probably I will get the 1700, the idea is to OC it and get the 1800X performance, which is also seen in the graph. The 933 seconds result.

In some apps, there is a little more difference, but in gaming it's maximum 10% which doesn't justify the 2.5X price increase!

There is no difference between 3700X and 2700X in many apps, or the difference is so negligible that it isn't worth it to be discussed.

That's not entirely accurate now is it, if we take your chart as indicative then the 8 core 2700X is faster than the 10 core 7900X, we all know its not, you've picked an outlier with very odd performance scalling.

This is reality.

In the Relative Performance chart at tpu, the difference is 37.93%, in the 4K Gaming chart, which is what I care about, the difference is 0.9%..

Really that is what you base your *argument on? You know what you’ve said isn’t based in reality?

i3 8350k is 1% away from topping that chart... If that’s all you care about why not make the same argument for the i3?

?????????????

So you look at a GPU bottleneck and you think it's a good CPU comparison to look at a row of CPUs doing virtually identical performance because they're waiting for the overloaded GPU.

You don't need a super CPU to keep up with a choked GPU at 4k, as the chart shows, basically anything will do.

The difference between 2700X and 3700X is 3% in the aforementioned Vegas rendering task.
I assume that by OCing the 1700, one would get very close performance to both.

This ^^^^ by your measure a Ryzen 1400 is 95% that of a 9900K.

Why is the 9900K so expensive?!?!?!?! rarw rarw rarw#~*&$%"£

Your assumptions are fundamentally wrong.

The 3700X is 19% ahead of a 1800X. You compared the 1700 to the 3700X trying to imply they offered similar performance. This simply isn’t fact or based on reality.

The 1700 is £200 because its end of life stock.

It was $330 Launch. (8c 16t)
The 1700X $400 Launch (8c 16t)
The 1800X $500 Launch (8c 16t)

3700X $330 (8c 16t)
3800X $400 (8c 16t)
3900X $500 (12c 24t)

My Ryzen 1600 was $190 Launch
The 3600 is $190, its 30% faster in games, if i drop the resolution so low its purely academic, i have gained very little at 1080P, nothing at 1440P but i knew that before i bought it, it will run a faster GPU much better when i get one.

Why are my assumptions wrong and not based on reality when they are true?

Ryzen 7 1700 I can BUY for 134 quid. Ryzen 7 3700X is 330 quid and gives ~20% more speed.
