see if it was any good and better than sandybridge exspecially the lower voltage and temperature. Let's see if this new chip can manage stable 4.8GHz with great lower temperature.

I fear nothing will beat a golden i5 2500k but still

You dont need 4.8ghz on a haswell chip to beat a 25/6/700k at 4.8ghz, theyll do it at 4.4/5 ono. As for temps, yes theyll run hotter if you batter them with stuff like p95. In normal use theyre no hotter than any intel chip in recent years.
4790k and 4690k are in stock, hence all models of Devil's Canyon are in stock.
I don't see our competitors with any 4690k or 4790k in stock, we have both, so what is your point?

I have a L3 chip. 2013, but it clocks very well. It's all silicon lottery.
But if the batch numbering convention is correct, isn't it extremely weird that Intel had chips lying around from last year that are being binned as Devil's Canyon? Is it possible that these 'older' batches don't actually have the updated TIM?
Intel will have been producing them for a long time, then launched them when the time is right.
It may be why later 4770k's were very poor at overclocking as the best parts where going off to be the DC sku's.
It's all a lottery anyway unless you can bin a lot of cpu's yourself.

well...it says on the forum the OEM 4790k is in stock and available for immediate dispatch...but when I rang up just now they are saying they are not arriving till tomorrow...and the retails will be in stock on Friday .....I was hoping to go and fetch one this afternoon....whats the best bet of getting a decent clocker...OEM OR Retail? or will it be pure luck

yea...I just phoned OCUK back because I can get one delivered tomorrow from a competitor...they are phoning me back to see if they have more in stock so I can go and get one today, they originally said that I could maybe get a oem one after 5pm tomorrow after they have sorted out the pre orders out, but not guarantee. that's no good for me as I have a time window to get one.....if not I will go else where...tomorrow is better than the end of the week for me...
