Intel Dual Core from £79 +VAT

My watercooling is leak testing at the moment. Finally got around to putting it back together. Will try tommorow to get mine past 4ghz. It's perfectly stable at 3.8ghz... what I have been using it at since I got it.

I have heard reports elsewhere that people have changed the multipler using of all things INTEL motherboards. Is anybody else changing their multipler?

lmao id love to change my multi 200*25 :D would be sweet as hell :D shame i cant though :( right im in the b grade section whats the better mobo ??

Out of those I'd either go for the ASUS P5WD2 or the ABit AA8XE.

The nForce 4 Intel chipset isn't that stable and it isn't a good clocker

The ABit AA8XE has the Intel 925XE chipset, the ASUS P5WD2 has the 955X chipset (a newer faster chipset)

Not sure which chipset clocks better but the Fatality models are meant to be better clockers than the standard models and ABit boards tend to clock better than ASUS boards. It could be held back by the older chipset though

Asus P5WD2 premium all the way ...

Had a few problems with my new (well, B grade) motherboard but I flashed to the latest beta BIOS and it is all good.

Pulling 36s super pi scores and 10.5k cpu score on aquamark 3 (66k total) running a 128mb x800gto @ stock.

So far I have it at 3650mhz @ 1.45v (honestly don't know whats safe fo these but the temps seem reasonable, 56c load on stock cooling) I will see what it's max is tomorrow

The nForce 4 Intel chip is also reported to have problems with low end PDs

Only the 820 ;) My 3650mhz 805 can vouch for that :D

all i know is i need a new mobo cos i got a pci-e slot reunning at 4X its annoying as hell cos i have a decent gfx card and its not at it ful potential :(

A 4x slot won't limit an x800, I have an X800GTO and scores were nearly identical (CPU a little higher) with my P5DV1-X as they are with my P5ND2-SLi Deluxe

Currently at 3.6Ghz on 1.35V. I have to say performance in games is pretty dire (dropped from an X2 4400 @ 2.7Ghz to save cash) although I'm expecting too much. 3.6Ghz has helped a lot, even over 3.4Ghz.

well them mobos i was looking at have just vanished i need a nice mobo for this cpu to get it clocked if i got a mobo that was capable of 4 ghz + if cpu allows it then id invest in water cooling my budget max for mobo would be about 110 then id have to buy ddr 2 ram though thats going to kane me even more but suggestions are welcome :) thanks a lot guys been help ful so far :D would the asus sli mobo be better then what got now or shouldnt i bother at all and just leave it as a lost cause

Well I haven't really got any more out of it on water...

Temps are nearly 15-20c lower than air though. Low thirties apposed to high 40's to mid 50's. Which means I have silence back.

The only thing I have against the chip is the lack of multipler adjustment. They would be unbeliveable if you could do that. All in all the chip is still an absoloute bargin.

The price of the preslers is dropping now, I might be tempted to get a 920 and see how they compare. The are just under double the price, so it would have to clock a long way to offer the same bang for buck.
