Intel Haswell Refresh Processors Codenamed Devil’s Canyon – Launching in Mid 2014 With Unlocked Desi

The Chinese government doesn't bend over when US authorities come knocking so Chinese (and Russian) people have nothing to fear from leaking such information.

LOL Well I was gonna say why do they give them that stuff in the first place then? But I guess a lot of it is actually manufactured in China anyway.

This doesn't sound good. This better not be true :(

It is also said that a few retailers have already listed the Core i7-4790K, Core i5-4690K and Pentium G3258 CPUs for pre-order. However, they will not start shipping until September. Also, most motherboard manufacturers are holding out until Devil’s Canyon release before they start shipping the Z97 motherboards.

Edit: I just read now.....that this might be fake? You read one thing and you think it's the truth and then another says it's fake!??? This whole thing with wanting Devil’s Canyon is starting to put me right off the whole thing all together tbh. Release it or don't. Intel and their childish games are getting old now:mad: I doubt Devil’s Canyon will release next week. If it did their would be lots of places to preorder. I see nowhere here in the UK that's pre-selling? In fact 4770k price has gone up in the last few days? Too me thats a sign right there that 4790k isn't releasing any time soon.

4770k was going up in price anyway soon as the rumors about the delay got round. Until it actually hits the shelves then I guess it will remain that way.

I see that Asus have a new beta bios up for z87 boards, (ver 1504). Lists compatibility with upcoming anniversary pentium cpu and devils canyon.

If they run cooler it will be a major bonus. With the current chips, you can have a good clocker but be hampered by temps.

Intel’s Devil’s Canyon Processors will Not be Supported on 8th Series Chipset, Pentium Anniversary Will Be

Devil’s Canyon and Intel Z97 compatibility is turning into quite the soap opera. We have just received photos from our colleagues at Hermitage Akihabara which confirm that Intel Devil’s Canyon will not supported on 8 Series Chipsets and Z87. Only the Pentium 20th Anniversary Unlocked Processors will work with both chipsets. That is, unless the motherboard manufacturers have something to say about it.

I don't know why Intel would *officially* go against the grain with this one, it's illogical.
There's still no official "Z97 only" line from Intel either.

And, we don't know if motherboard vendors will just roll it out with support for Z87 anyway.

Hopefully we'll know in the next 2 days.

But so close to launch, I'm not hopeful of *official Z87 support for DC*. Intel may's well paint "Please hate us" on their door.

The thing that gets to me is, if DC does run cooler current hw owners are left with chips that are sold as oc capable, chips that don't oc well due to intels lazy manufacturing process. A problem that theyve known about since Ivybridge. Now they finally decide to release a properly built chip but lock out loads of people from using it.

Maybe the Devil's Canyon chips due to their re-design just aren't compatible with the older chipsets?

For most enthusiasts who would likely pay out for a 4790K also think Z97 is a nice refresh, newer features. Nice looking boards. Not even that expensive.

At least Intel are putting some newer stuff out. For people building this year it's a good result. Rather this than they just did nothing until Broadwell..

In the CPU space what have AMD done lately?

I could sell the board in sig and drop to a lesser quality Z97 board, but tbh finding a known good clocking delidded 4770k could be a better option. That or move to the higher end X99 platform. Certainly interesting times for new kit.

Yeah those who already have decent setups needn't apply, but that's been the case for years now anyway with people on Sandybridge saying they are happy and no need to upgrade. This is no different.

If you look at it this way,

Z87 > Z97 (Newer features, nice boards) Same price point.

4770K > 4790K (Newer design, cooler running, highest Intel stock clocks to date, better overclocking) Same price point 'According to Gibbo's earlier post.

Nice refresh stuff at same price point. No reason to be hatin on Intel atm.
