For a gaming PC.

Got around £1200 to build around EVGA GTX 780.

Can easily fit around AMD but struggling with Intel.

Need it to be prebuilt, really can't build my own so please don't suggest!

I will literally just be gaming!

Thanks

One i5, one i7. Both come to around £1200, not including shipping or an OS (you can use Windows free for 3 months).

(no EVGA 780 on the options list)

It's always worth mentioning what games you will be playing and at what resolution.

Where do you live Heisenberg? im sure if you bought the bits, someone closeby could come round and show you how to put it all together, you might enjoy learning and its allways good to know for troubleshooting later on

Gainward makes very good cards and Phantom is a really good one.
It also looks awesome, I think it looks even better than evga cards.
Evga is a nice premium card, but there are many other good brands.
My 770 is from Gainward as well and I absolutely love it.
Its quiet, cool and looks great.

I'm quite part illiterate so to speak and I watched a video on the EVGA and was impressed by the performance, how does the gainward compare?

this should be a fun post when the fan boys get into it.
I think AMD is fine but intel is also fine. they both work well

My AMD 6 core with a 7950 gives me 85 FPS in BF4 at max.
and in 2 min's an intel boy will tell you his i5 with a 7950 gives me 86 FPS in BF4 at max

Build to your budget, intel is a little better at most games but both will play fine.

Would MSI not be the best option on GFX vender?

They're both 780s; any performance differences will only really be noticeable in benchmarks.

Something must be wrong with my rig then, because i doubt i'm hitting anywhere near 85fps maxed out @ 1080p with my i7 3770K and R9 280X.

You don't really need a 780 if your gaming at 1050. But it's always good to future proof of your planning on upgrading your monitor.
An 8320 would be Ok in bf4 as would an i5 or i7. I've got an i5 personally just upgrade from a fx6300 as I play some older games which benefit a lot more from Intel.

your right there is something wrong, i7's are pointless for gaming as the i5 do just as good, and none of the new cards or at full potential yet. thats if they even end up been any better then the old card we are still waiting to see.

Battlefield 4, Crysis 2 etc.

1680x1050

Thanks man

Someone spec this guy a 1080p monitor too :(

With those two games and £1200 in mind, i wouldn't think its a crime to spec a monitor upgrade and an AMD build if the man wants a monitor upgrade. In terms of fps, i doubt a gamer would notice without fraps telling you. If it wasnt pre-build, you would probably be able to go intel + monitor.

Will OP be overclocking? Because if he isnt, there is money to be saved and considering the OP isnt prepared to build it himself, then i doubt overclocking was in his plans too.

Are you open to other graphic card suggestions? As 780 is a lil overkill for under 1080p and even at 1080p, a 280x will do fine and could save you a chunk of money.

Thanks for everyone for the numerous replies.

Originally I was looking at this:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...ktdetailseite&emcs2=GX-182-GW&emcs3=FS-362-OE

With a Samsung SSD and EVGA 780 GTX.

I'm open to all suggestions, all I really want is a future proof PC which gives me the graphics to make my friends who are on ps4/xbox ones jealous.

I would quite happily go down the AMD route in a bid to purchase an updated monitor, however I could probably afford a new monitor around February time anyway. I currently have a Samsung Syncmaster 2032 BW and I must have had it for 6+ years now! I was thinking that after spending £1000 on a new PC then this monitor would be sub par for performance

With regards to the graphics card I would also like to make sure it is futureproof, thus the EVGA 780GTX is just in my budget and I can easily add one in the future if required!

What you want to spend is wasted in your resolution but 1080p monitors can be had for cheap now, far cheaper than before. If you wont be overclocking a decent framerate + build + a 24" LED 60hz monitor is doable but if you want to leave it till feb so you can get maybe an even better monitor and concentrate on pimping the pc out now, then the specers are just as happy as you are. The system you suggested would eat Crysis 2 at 1080p for breakfast.

Intel vs amd. Oh god, please no, not again!
not really an intel vs amd but rather a 'Spec me a prebuilt, dont care if its intel or amd'

Choices! Any suggestions? I really cannot make a decision! I like the idea of having a new monitor as well now...
