Ah one thing also I saw gibbo/8pac go on about when someone from the forum was arguing against their overclocking results (bearing in mind gibbo was a champ back in the days and 8pac is the current)

Some cards are clocked out of the box but don't have much overclock headroom.
Whereas some are not but DO have a lot more overclocking headroom.

So from my own knowledge I believe msi lightning and asus direct CU/matrix platinum are usually the ones that overclock well.

Personally I would get a custom 290, some 290's can be flashed to 290x's. Even standard there isn't much performance difference to warrant the extra price
