Intel slash prices

Retailers are dumping Intel inventory. Probably a very smart move to cut losses now.

Intel haven't slashed prices though. Intel still be getting paid heavy dough son!

Retailers cashing in before they lose an even larger amount as jigger said.

Intel won't give a donkeys, they'll release a 5%-10% faster chip soon enough and still charge the earth.

Yeah, this is Retailers dumping stock, makes you think just how worthless do they think Intel's chips are going to be after RyZen reviews?

Inevitable. Intel's X99 E range prices in particular look laughable now considering that AMD's counterparts seem to have matching IPC and in some cases higher clocks out of the box.

The 6900k at £1k is in no mans land. Who is going to buy that for that money now when the 1800x is half the price?

The important thing is not to reward Intel for screwing you, don't go hey, Intel prices are great, lets buy that Intel chip now. They are dropping prices to compete, because Zen is genuinely competitive, if it wasn't prices wouldn't come down so you won't lose out by going AMD, you'll win.

The more cash you give AMD, the longer term AMD can compete, ie have the cash to have quicker R&D cycles to push Intel more of the time and Intel taking a hit in profits will also push them to put more R&D into their products.

But seriously, OCUK had i3's at £185 or something a day or two ago, now Intel wants the 6600k at that price point... overnight they put the prices down and at $180 they are still plenty profitable at that price, it's still only a 122mm^2 core AND they've been making so much extra profit with the previous pricing.

Intel's prices have been laughable for a long time. I think any excessive margins in the supply chain will now shrink and so they should.

ppl who just bought CPU that lost 140-300$ overnight will be happy :D
seriously this is proof enough that Ryzen is golden, even before reviews come out.
gg AMD best sandbaging of all time :D

I think prices will have to drop lower than those in the OP's link.

Intel Core i7-6900K ($999 US) – $200 Price Cut

^ who is buying that even at $999? From all the leaks, at stock the 1800x is faster both in single threaded and multi threaded applications....and is half the price.

Until Intel cut the prices, retails are only cutting the prices to shift them quickly without loosing money on each unit. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say retails are most likely making very little if anything on the CPU's after the cuts. They just want them gone.

The fact they are doing it at all is only good news for AMD, they obviously know there is something good coming next week.

lol @ " A Jew never changes "
but seriously intel could very well go back to what they did to AMD early 2000's

shhhhh don't give them idea's......

Also, that last line in the screenshot..... a tad over the top me thinks
