Both are very good points. If you look at the sort of computers purchased for use in businesses, they're almost guaranteed to have Intel processors. It's simply because that's all you can get from the likes of HP, Dell, Lenovo etc - you have to go out of your way to get hold of an AMD system from them. Even worse, the laptops tend to be exclusively budget oriented, so for example they'll have terrible low resolution TN panels, whereas the Intel models will be available with 1080p+ IPS panels.Ryzen will be popular amongst enthusiasts, but Intel will still sell many more CPU's than AMD, due to their mind share and due to Intel's stranglehold on OEM's.
You have to remember enthusiast forums like this are in the minority, the majority don't know what CPU is inside their system...
The whole thing is total BS!
When quizzed Intel they said they have some rebates on NONE K series, which resulted in me exploding, saying K series needs support.
In the end we got some rebate for K series, a whole $10, hence why we have being able to go very aggressive on all Intel Kaby Lake lines, but its not a lot, but in fairness they are selling quite well, but also in fairness Ryzen CPU's are absolutely flying, we've sold over 1000 of them.![]()
If Intel aren't supporting you or the customer, and AMD is, then I guess that's where you focus your efforts. I'm sure Intel will get the message soon enough that they aren't the only show in town any more.
Maybe but AMD have a long way to go, AMD is selling like absolutely crazy, not seen a CPU launch like it for years to sell 1k CPU in a few days!
But saying that the 7700k and 7600k are starting to sell quickly again too.
From the outside, I would think that might be because lots of people were waiting for Ryzen launch before making an upgrade decision? So both camps see increase after yesterdays results.
AMD need to win some big accounts though, like DELL for example.
