Intel to launch 6 core Coffee Lake-S CPUs & Z370 chipset 5 October 2017

isn't the 1700 non X a better choice - come with a cooler as opposed to the X variants?

It's my ocd again. I'd rather have the "best" of something. I'd feel better having the top Ryzen 5 than entry level Ryzen 7.

I know that all the cpu's are identical when overclocked and even though you get an additonal 2 cores, if I was going Ryzen 7 I'd want the 1800x, and when I look at the 1800x I start thinking the 7820x makes sense for 100 quid more.

I know I sound crazy lol but the other thing is for purely gaming I don't think it makes sense paying more for Ryzen 7 anyway, and by the time 8 cores is needed I'd be on a different motherboard...

Still wondering if it blow a wad on the 7900x, would this be a nice upgrade from my [email protected]? Or save a bit and go 7820?

I think it's pointless going for a 7900x if your main usage is gaming.

I'd rather keep the difference and put it towards the inevitable gpu upgrade once Volta releases...

A 7820x makes more sense I reckon, even if there won't be night and day differences in gaming, you'll get an extra 2 cores.

For gaming is hyperthreading getting more of an advantage these days?

With 4 cores it made a difference, the 7700k was worth the premium over the 7600k, but now we're at 6 core cpu's the differences seem minimal. The 8600k looks like the go to gaming processor now in Intel's range.

Wonder how many people waiting for today are going to get upset enough to just order a Ryzen rig due to the extremely limited supply of CPU's and the potential wait for a few months to get one?

If prices are ridiculous / stock issues i will most probably go for a Ryzen too

I think that the opposite what Intel planned, they rushed Cofvefe to cut Ryzen sales when they will do the exact opposite.

I got an 8700K for £356 but was rather lucky. I'm hoping more reputable retailers such as OCUK will be a little more sensible on pricing.

Well if I have to wait 2 months for the prices to calm down I will not going to spend over the odds just because I want it now or I'll just by the Kaby I7
