Sir Random said:Maybe you should have cancelled everything except the E6600 from your first order, and then made a new order for all the stuff you had just cancelled. That way, your original order would still be in the queue (amended to just the E6600)

casw1000 said:There is one other point, I have ordered memory, Nijna Plus HSF, and a good few other bits, even if the E6400 came in tomorrow, if one of my items were not available due to being out of stock, then my order wouldn't ship anyway.
Tigjaw said:I tried to do that but the guy said he couldn't do it that way, he said either way I do it I'd lose my priority in the queue. Doesn't sound quite right to me. I decided to just wait for everything instead.
Intel Guy, thanks for all the answers you've given us so far, at least we've got some food for thought now. I was just wondering whether Dell for example have had their allocation of E6600 arrive yet?
I read earlier in the thread about the idea of sneakily borrowing 1000 from them for OCuk's backorders but I wasn't sure whether they were actually gathering dust at Dell yet.
If they are just sitting in Dell's warehouses in cardboard boxes then surely they wont miss a few boxes, lets say, 1000 CPUs
Besides, I'm sure Dell wont go without and to be honest, most the people buying conroe systems wont know what they're buying.

shodan said:I think all the other items in your order have already been picked and held for you, so even if things go out of stock, yours are reserved and waiting to be dispatched.

casw1000 said:No, this is NOT the case, as this was my logic, but the argument is that if they picked and held all the items on a purchase order that was waiting for a back order item, their warehouse would be full. That's when they offered to cancel my E6400 and ship everything else out, but theres no point in that, as I still need the cpu anyway. So i might as well wait.
So to be clear, OCUK has not picked MY order (probably others) which has an item that is on back order. If I am really unlucky the cpu will come in, memory goes on back order, they cannot hold the cpu for my order and hey someone else gets my cpu
Gibbo, maybe a colleague got this wrong, but I respect what I am told and have settled with that answer, if this is incorrect - please let us know. Thx.
Gibbo - well done on getting those E6300 oem's. Good Job.
