a 250GB version would be perfect for my needs. Main os partition around about 30GB or so in size, and the rest as second partition for installing games into.
Intel don't need to drop them in price at the moment (but that's not to say they won't in the distant future). There is no competing product remotely this fast available for a similar price as it stands.
2009 will definitely be where the SSD market opens up. I think Intel have won it for this year on pure performance.
The only problem with SSDs so far is the amount that have supposedly been released is miles different to what we can actually sell to customers plus the claimed speeds are nowhere near.
That second sentance is true aswell as far as most drive makers (or wannabe makers) are concerned. Mtron have always delivered more than the claimed spec however and you can get them right now (even though OCUK don`t stock them)
It seems I always talk about Mtron, I guess that`s because they don`t get the credit they deserve.
I`d love to get hold of one of these intel drives for a few days to see if the extra R/W makes any real world difference over my Mtron drive, the access times are the same so I`m doubtlfull it would for an OS drive.
Feel free to lend me one
Do you reckon one of those VelociRaptor 300GB 10000RPM drives are worth purchasing for use as fast os boot+fast games loading times drive until the half decent SSDs come down in price?
Unless you have money to burn the price/performance delta is just too great, saying that I'd rather have one of these than that silly keyboards with the OLED keys!

Yep, ones these SSDs drives come down to a reasonable price, then i`ll definitely be replacing all my hard drives with them, but until then, it i`ll have to be VelociRaptor i think, as these drives seem to get good comments for fast os boot drive.
That is outrageously quick - surely you guys can run eight of these off the intel controller on one of the P45 boards to see what they can do in an 8xRaid 0... pleeeeeeeeease!
