If you want to track it down. then start with a clean install, ie no drivers loaded and just load device driver at a time, measure your boot and shut down time until you find the culprit.

i have no mapped network drives
i have started with a clean install as mentioned above somewere, and it the shutdown problems start from there, thats without anything loaded driver / prog / games wise, just a fresh install ready to load stuff on, slow shutdown

one thing i have noticed, if i bootup, then restart right away, it wont hang, if i leave it for 10 or more seconds and reboot it hangs, dont know if that has anything to do with it

Do you have a removable storage drive at all, Ie usb ? If so unplug the drive ?? Just reply to your email..
 
You can try disabling them, one at a time to see if one of them is causing the problem.
Double click the service and from the "startup type" drop down box select disabled and apply.

why is it tho when i leave the system on it hangs on shutdown, but if i reboost after say 5 seconds its almost instant ?
 
tried and no luck mate :-(
in the end they were all disabled
is there such an app thant shows you the sequence of shutdown and whats closed in what order ?
 
After a quick google of the error in your screenshot, Event ID 11, would suggest the drive being bad, the mobo chipset going bad or corrupt drivers. Do you have a second system you can try it in?

There is BootVis for XP not sure if it would work on 7, or you could try the trial of WinBootInfo.

I feel your pain with slow shutdown, my xp system used to do it, hanging at saving settings, unfortunatly it cured itself and I have no idea how or why.

i think the event 11 message was from yesterday before the fresh install of 7 and those intel drivers you suggested
i have no usb external in at the mo, along with no card reader

there have been no errors today except one which was an id 9 in eventvwr ------> The device, \Device\Ide\iaStor0, did not respond within the timeout period.

the bootinfo app that john suggested, ive ran 4 times now and each time im having different numbers of drivers loaded and different number of processes loaded, with them 4 times im getting 33 - 35 secs bootup

just to let all of you know who have helped me with various suggestions, im 95% certain ive found the problem, and im 95% sure its nothing to do with the ssd.
once im 100% sure i will update the thread

baron02.....your a star ! thank you so much for all the emails and letting me ask you questions about your installation procedure for the drive, without this i would be knocking down walls now ! once again thanks your a legend ! :-)

Just to let you know
after much frustration, the problem is now resolved.
ATI drivers 10.2 were for some reason causing the delay in shutdown, im now on 10.1 and all is very nice.
