New G-0 stepping info

Description of Change to the Customer:
The Intel® CoreTM2 Quad processor Q6600 and Intel® Xeon® processors X3220 and X3210 will undergo
the following changes for the B-3 to G-0 processor stepping conversion:
• CPUID will change from 06F7 to 06FB
• New S-specs for converting products
• The converting products will change from the 2005 Performance FMB(105W) to the 2005
Mainstream FMB (95W)
• The Electrical, Mechanical and Thermal Specifications remain within the current specifications.
Intel anticipates no changes to customer platforms designed to Intel guidelines.
o Tcase for the Intel® CoreTM2 Quad processor Q6600 and Intel® Xeon® processors
X3220 and X3210 on G-0 stepping has been increased by 11 oC. Tcontrol offset will
remain the same relative to increase in Tcase which will help reduce acoustics

10W decrease in TDP, increase in Tcase by 11C...... sounds like good news for overclockers, thus the question

hey guys can someone confirm whether one of the X32xx xeons would work in my DS4 revision 1. I've checked on gigabyte sites and it isnt listed in the cpu supported list but its not in anyof the newer DS4 revisions either.

also checked DS3p 3.3 version and it isn't listed????

Do i assume it isn't supported or is the fact that it supports Q6xxx means it supports the Xeon quads as well.

The X32xx Xeons will work fine in the DS4. They're Core 2 Quads with a different label.

Manufacturers very seldom advertise that their desktop boards support server chips.

thought that might have been it as i didn't see a reason why it would support Quads but not the xeon quads..... might not need to sell it in the end then, although the E6850 is fairly tempting when the price cuts come in.
