IntelBurnTest v2.0 Released

I'd say that's a RAM/Motherboard issue then, try runnign memtest. Linpack/IBT are purely for stressing your CPU, different versions of prime (blend/large FFT compared to small FFT) stress other components, its why I always use IBT for stressing my CPU to test a new overclock, but will use other programmes for testing my RAM for example.

I know from previous testing my RAM is stable at higher than my current speed at the timings, which is why Im able to say my system is happy after my CPU linpack 10 hours. :) Like graphics cards its a process of elimination, one part might be stable but another might not!

For i7's you would be wasting your time using ITB. It only stresses to 50% with i7's, unlike other cpu's. You should use LinX for any i7's, it stresses the cpu 100%.

Really my I7 gets stomped @100% (if i select 8 threads) across of four cores

And cant pass 2 runs even though its prime stable for 10 hrs on blend and small fft's

Run it again with "Task Manager" on screen at the "performance" tab. You will see that only 50% of the cpu is being used.

thx so whats a good ball mark figure for running 15 minutes or 1 hr?

Aint gonna bother with orthos anymore cant be bothered too wait 10 years too check for stability :)

100%

My apologies then mattyg ;)

I must admit i was basing it on an earlier version of ITB, i havn't tried 2.1.

If you have to set it to run 8 threads, then you might look at LinX anyway because you don't need to set it at all. You just run it.

No need to apologies Pal.

It did only run @50% when set to auto but set to 8 it hits them all.

But then showed up my unstable OC:(

I used this and my OC on standard failed after the 2nd pass.

Downloaded and ran Linx 0.5.9 and it passed all tests.

My OC = i7 920 @ 3.5Ghz
FSB set to 175 and voltage set to a max of 1.296v
I haven't changed anything else.

Max temps were 68, 65, 65, 64

Pushing for 3.6Ghz now.

How the hell does everyone manage to get it running at 4Ghz at temps <70c?? Mine goes up to 90's and that's with a TRUE in a Lian li a05nb with 2 fans on the TRUE and the 2 fans on the case.

Some chips are just better than others and require incredibly low volts :(

My 3.4Ghz Q6600 is linpack 9 hour stable as well :D
Above that despite the heat, I think its the power demand from my system that gives up (as in PSU can't give enough juice, as the PC just turns off, rather than crashing and rebooting) before CPU.

Well, for one, that's a small case and the airflow may not be as cool coming in or as efficient in general, though that will depend a lot on what yours has in it and cable management. Also, perhaps the thermal contact is bad between the HS? Did both that and the chip look flat? I know my CPU is far from flat atm! Also, every chip is different, some generate more heat and run hotter than others, perhaps you'rs isn't the very best.

What voltage does it need for 4ghz then?

currently testing 4.051ghz HT enabled
Memory at 7.7.7.22
1.3v

currently browsing the internet and listning to music at the same time as running intel burn test v2.1 with 16 threads and maximum stress level

100% cpu usage 90% memory usuage.

currently on pass 5 ;)

things are looking sweet for my system, and this is a awsome clock and i consider if i can pass 20 of this test then im fully stable. Prime95 is obsoleet now i never use it anymore as intel burn test 2.1 is the ultimate stress test for ram and cpu.

^^^ Well that's not true, since many people have experienced prime95 crashing/giving errors when IBT passes. I use both in conjunction.
