Intels E6500K with unclocked mutiplier

I was hoping that OCUK would have these by now.

If you mean the E6500K then no European or US retailer will touch them Intel won't honour any warranty claims made outwith the market the product was sold for. Also Intel will likely warn big EU and US (r)etailers against grey imports.

If it's the E6300 then I'm not sure why OcUK don't have them as everyone else does. Send them a webnote and ask?

I sent a web note the other week and they said they would look into importing some.
I have seen the E6300 2.8 on sale in the UK but its the E6500K I am after.

Thats not how it works tho, 2 3 or 4 cores its still only 3.1ghz

It also dosent have a lot more cache, its 2mb shared between the cores the same as the 6500k

I acknowlege your first point in single-threaded apps, which many are today.

But I don't believe your second point is correct, the 550BE has 4 x 512mb L2 per core (after unlocking), and 6MB L3 shared regardless of unlocking. So it has either 7 or 8MB of cache memory depending on whether you unlock it, that is 4 times more cache than the E6500K's 2MB total.

Ah ok, i hadnt realised the AMD chips have L3 cache as well, i was only on about L2 :)

With the help of liquid nitrogen, DFORDOG conducted the fest with Biostar TP45 HP motherboard,
K|ngp|n F1 cooler and 2×1GB of Geil memory.

Come on OCUK

I would love to know how long it would last at 1.8v
but I know by looking around the net it goes to 4-4.5GHZ on air.

But it looks like OCUK won't be getting any :(
