Interesting Day...

I tried to read the OPs post, but it made me angry so i left.

Just because, like, your at school, like soooooo doesnt mean like you should so like talk like a retard, so.

It seems Carl is his friend so "bullying" is a bit strong. If something similar happened in an office environment then I could see where you're coming from. This is a school though. Young lads get up to this sort of thing. Threatening to remove him from exams is just pathetic.

OK so if I say you are my friend I can punch you in the face? It doesn't matter if the victim says it's OK, they're still a victim.

Also I don't get why you think it's OK to bully while at school rather than in a work environment? surely it would be better to learn about how unacceptable it is earlier rather than later?

So far the OP has abused resources, humiliated two people and felt agrieved when questioned about an unscheduled day off then he ran to his mum to back him up and you think the teachers are in the wrong. Hmmm

Yeah because that's same as e-mailing round "Carl luvs Lucy". Mates rip it out of each other, especially school lads!

It's kind of pointless discussing this if you think ripping it out your mates is "bullying".

OK he abused resources. "Humiliated" them is a bit strong considering you don't even know them. Questioned? He was threatened to be taken out of exams because he sent round a "Carl luvs Lucy" e-mail. Yeah, the teachers were wrong to be so pathetic and over the top about a school boy prank.

Yes but they don't usually do it in front of an entire school

I wonder why they don't allow personal attacks on this forum then?

What else was he trying to do other than humiliate? Humiliating someone is pathetic, trying to educate someone isn't.

It's likely the vast majority won't know who Carl or Lucy so not really. It would be no different than him putting that picture up somewhere in the school. Someone put a load round my 6th form recently. I didn't know who this Chris was like I didn't know who Sarah was.

I wonder why they don't allow personal attacks on this forum then?

I see banter on the forum between mates. Personal attacks are different.

Humiliate? Probably just having a laugh like lads do at that age. I doubt there was any malice in it.

It doesn't matter even if they say it's OK, they are victims. Likely, probably and doubt are words you just can't afford to use in a job involving the education of hundreds/thousands. The teachers do this for a living as you know.

"Oh he's a schoolboy, let's let this one go", yeah right :p

He should be doing some grovelling, everything he's posted tells me he's in the wrong.

Well it's all about the "victim" IMO. If they're fine with it, what's the real issue except abusing resources as you put it.

Likely, probably and doubt are words you just can't afford to use in a job involving the education of hundreds/thousands.

You sound like a politician! :D

Well that would have been the outcome when I was at school and is the case at 6th form. Probably different when you was a school lad :p

"Oh he's a schoolboy, let's let this one go", yeah right :p

I actually said first off he should be given an after-school detention or something. I'm just saying the teachers reacted like ****.

He should be doing some grovelling, everything he's posted tells me he's in the wrong.

Grovelling is a bit strong! Yeah he was in the wrong just like the teachers.

I have three daughters, college, secondary school and primary school. I wouldn't defend his sort of action/attitude for any of them.

What have the teachers done wrong? IMO if they are lenient or do nothing then they have done something wrong. If they cause him to get a grip and start studying properly without messing around and making problems for people then they are doing their job. Put yourself in their place, what would you do?

Well I just don't consider empty-threats a good way to get things solved. How could they possibly get him taken out of his exams over such a small incident? Insulting his intelligence more then anything. I done far worse at school (only 4 years ago) and I was never threatened with something like that.

If I was in their place and I wanted to stamp it out, I would hand out as many after-school detentions as I could get away with. You'd be bloody unpopular but it would work. Imagine you were 15 again, what would deter you more? Empty threat or a week of after-school detentions?

I wouldn't teach though :p

I don't understand why on earth some people are in the teaching proffession when they so obviously despise children (for want of a better word).

I can recall when I was in secondary school (11-16) all of the teachers used to constantly over-react!

The highlight of which was when a head of subject threatened me with expulsion for sellotaping a malteaser to my face! (It was a schoolboy attempt to impersonate a teacher who had a rather conspicuous mole- cheeky, sure, but hardly a serious offence!)

government + stupid funding plans that persaude people to do a degree they really don't want to do, because its free, then stuck teaching for 5 years, and hating every second of it. governments seem to not realise when they offer funding for something ANYONE will take it, not the people that really need/want it in the first place. rather than offer 2nd year teaching degree people funding, then offer it to people who can't decide what to do and are swayed.

so many terrible teachers, the fact that the rest of the teachers laughed is an indication they have at least a small amount of brainpower. anyone that thought it was anything other than funny is ridiculous.

Some teachers do SO enjoy being in charge that thats all they do, act in charge, anything they can get upset over they will. most people get more and more irritated by people that treat them badly purely because they can.

I had teachers who treated me as simply, a person and i got on with them fine. the teachers who raise their voices for no reason at all, who pick on the whole class when you've got one bad student, the ones who decide they don't like your personality or something you said so treat you badly are beyond a joke.

My latin teacher, despite asking to join the class(mostly because i wasn't asked to be in it in the first place being the main reason i wanted in :p , to show them i shouda been asked), and despite being in chronic pain meaning waking in the morning and moving early and in cold mornings actually being very painful AND the teacher being completely aware of that. ASwell as him being aware i was close to the furthest out student from the school AND that the class was at 8.30-9 everyday when everyone else starts at 9, he gave me grief and would shout at me infront of the class for walking in late. i was an A student, and he knew of every issue, he was just a complete ****. he also shouted at kids for doing badly, anything below a B and he told them they were just useless. shouldn't have been a teacher. i got up mid year and told him to shove it mid being shouted at. those types simply do not deserve to be teachers.

I think they get more wound up by how I don't react to their threats. They constantly say they'll give me a letter home or ring my parents. I give them either of these answers:

Letter home: Do you want my address? I'll write it down for you now
Letter home 2: Aw good, I need some paper.

Ring parents: Do you want my number? Or do you want my mum to ring the school, she wants a word with what you said to me the other day anyway - shes fuming.
Ring parents: Will you ring her now then as she's often at work, or if you want i'll tell her to expect your call if you give me a time and date?

I don't say them sarcastically, or in a sarcastic voice. I say it as though I am deadly serious and would like them to ring my parents. :p

I will admit that they over reacted to the original post topic however it does sound like you are always in trouble if they are always threatening to send letters home etc. And as for your replies not being sarcastic, perhaps you should look the meaning up, in fact I would go so far as to say that your replies make you sound like a right bell end!

It sounds like you have a real attitude problem and one day you will come out with one of these comments to the wrong person and get a good smack for it.

lol, i seem to remember anyone at school at age 10 who showed interest in another girl/boy would get a bunch of kids running around the playground laughing and singing " x and y, sitting in a tree. k i s s i n g.."

thats about what this was the most basic, completely non humiliating or harmful childish type ribbing of a mate there is.

personal attacks are saying something mean about someone normally you aren't friends with. ribbing/mocking is done to a friend, there is no mean intent, can you tell me where the meaness is in this, a guy likes a girl? highschool politics, you don't tell the girl you like them you mate tells a friend who tells a friend of the girl. teachers getting involved is beyond a joke, they clearly didn't give a monkeys about the two people it named as they didn't ask the two people if they were upset. they specifcally said they didn't care about that, it didn't matter, they might/are going to try and screw up his future for something he did that frankly they didn't care about. terrible attitude from the teachers, truly awful. bullying, they accused him of bullying, a pretty nasty accusation, and threatened exluding from exams without even finding or caring if any bullying occured and you think its fine, oh well.

if other teachers are laughing about it and realise its completely trivial, doesn't indicate its the teachers with the attitude problem. read previous post, the behaviour is completely out of order, teachers behaviour that is. As a person of authority, baseless accusations and threats are completely out of order, teachers routinely do this and its just, so very wrong, its wrong in any stage of life in any situation at all let alone in the so called student/teacher relationship. it was dealth with in a completely unprofessional manner at best. Even if he had writen something along the lines of "carl is gay" tbh, 10 years ago in school that would just be a joke, or even if carl was a kid known to go out with/like girls it would simply be deemed a joke. but on the offchance it was a "personal attack" the professional way to deal with it is, talk to Carl, privately and calmly, ask if he was upset, if he wanted to take it further, if he wanted to make a complaint etc, etc, etc. everything the teachers did was wrong, and at that point they lose all credibility. If people treat me like crap i simply won't treat them as if they are the nicest people on earth and accept threats and punishment i don't deserve. giving into stuff like this just encourages "bad" teachers to continue to treat kids badly which is definately the wrong thing to do.

the thing here is for your mum to kick up a stink, phone the papers if she wants, bring up a formal complaint. teachers like that need to learn how to teach and behave.

I barely even say it in my original post so not really sure what you're getting at.

I got detention for shouting "Bum chums" when my teacher started a story with "There were three chums....."

What a joke that was.

I also got detention for bullying someone. When this someone told the teacher in front of the whole class it wasn't me (which it wasn't) the teacher said "I don't care" and I got the detention anyway!!
