Interlagos - Brazilian Grand Prix 2009 - Race 16/17

Wet or Dry race today?

We always have to have the 'Jenson Doesn't deserve to win the championship' debate in each race thread *sigh*

It's a retarded debate imo. The person who finishes top of the table was the best driver of the season. We're not talking quantum physics here.

If we cut the season in half at Turkey, and put the first 7 races behind the rest, we would get results that looked like this:

6th
5th
7th
7th
DNF
2nd
5th
8th
1st
1st
3rd
1st
1st
1st
1st

And all these threads would be full of people going "Come on Button! late season charge means he deserves to win the title!"

Its the exact same results, in a different order. Winning a WDC is not based on opinion, its based on fact, and facts are whoever has the most points has done the best and therefore should win.

end of.

the whole British mentality of willing your countrymen to loose does my head in. When Hamilton first joined all the brits were going "well, I dunno, I hope he doesnt win in his first season, you know, make him a better driver". And now people are thinking that Button shouldnt win?!?! Its in all sports though. Just listen to the radio when they play comments from people about the world cup and Englands chances, its all "well, I dunno, I recon we will get to the quater finals" or "I think we will struggle, were not going to win".

No other nationality does this. Its like we seem to think its uncool to be seen to be positive.

Weather update

Welcome to race day at the Brazilian Grand Prix at Interlagos.

After Saturday's heavy rain, conditions have improved in Sao Paulo, though there is still a strong likelihood that showers will at some stage affect this afternoon's event, which could see both Brawn and Jenson Button crowned champions. Temperatures are expected to reach 25 degrees Celsius.

If Rubens goes off and Jenson finishes the race with Vettel no where in sight then the championship will go to Jenson.

All it takes is a rubens-esque fail start or pushing too hard and forcing himself off.

This is going to make for an interesting race.. is it easy enough to change the Aero stuff for the Dry Conditions?

Brawns setup for yesterday was wet IIRC?

..and Yes. The 'Does Button win Debate' is entirely retarded. The person with the most points wins end of. We just seem to get a troll who appears each week and starts urinating everyone off each time ;)

Damon Hill and Jacques Villeneuve were second only to Schumacher who some(not myself) consider to be one of the greatest. Neither get due credit.

They all only win in a superior car, or with a superior contract over their team mate. It's been like that for almost as long as I can remember now. People like to delude themselves that the best car doesn't always win. If it's reliable enough to score more points than a car thats slightly faster but unreliable it's still the better car over the season.

didnt damon almost win in an arrows , he wasnt a crap driver probably one of the best if he raced with the current drivers but he raced at a more competive time.

damon hill atleast had some balls and tried overtakes unlike most of the drivers on the grid these days

schumacher also won in crap cars the ferrari wasnt the best car ever but people forget it was an unreliable peice of crap with a powerful engine when he decided to switch to them.

hope button doesnt score and rubens win to take this to the last race, make it as exciting as last year.

Personally, I dont. Theres no fun in watching someone race to finish "6th or above" or something. I hope it all gets sorted this weekend, eveything finished, and then we can all go to Abu Dhabi with no risk, to a brand new track, and they can all just strap in and race the pants off their cars for the pride of winning a race, nothing else. Who cares if it blows up, who cares if I crash, etc.

Yeah that would be ace

It's the way Ferrari used to work - Engine is King

Thats why Enzo employed John Barnard, to bring modern chassis technology and design to Ferrari.

Wonder how many members of the Tifosi would have been happy if they knew that the cars were designed for several years, not in Maranello, but in Surrey. :D

here's to hoping.

Im torn, half of me is thinking like this and wants Button to win the title. The other half wants Barry to take it from under his nose. This really is his last chance of becoming World Champion and I think it would be fantastic for both him and F1. He clearly still has what it takes and all those years of experience are starting to show. Buttons fantastic start to the season means nothing if his poor recent qualifying form is what costs him the title.

Here is to hoping that Rubens shocking luck in Brazil continues, no wait I hope he wins, or do I?

FUUUUUUUUUUUUU!

And why he hired Doc Harvey Postlethwaite in the early '80s as well.

Ferrari fan here, perfectly comfortable with that ;) Think on, the Tifosi took to Mansell (and you couldn't find anyone more British than him) as a driver. Why the hell would they care that their favourite cars were designed in Britain as long as they were red, and winning races?

Only because Italian drivers at Ferrari are notoriously bad. ;)

Let me think... Ummm.. Alberto Ascari, early 50's... Great driver - 2 world championships with Ferrari

Since then... errrr....
Errr....
...
