Interlagos - Brazilian Grand Prix 2009 - Race 16/17

Rubens just wasnt fast enough today for even the championship (even without the puncture)

If Jenson had started on pole, he would have harried Mark Webber all the way from the pace he had

Well done JB fully deserved, definitely a Championship drive today without doubt (despite Kobiashi and Kovi being ridiculous mid race)

Mark did astoundingly well and brilliantly driven - same for Vettel, but my driver of the day (ignoring JB for a second) would be Kubica who did astoundingly

After yesterday I was really hoping Shov would say "where is Rubens now...." at the end of the race (I still suspect Jock Clear of being a bit sneaky at some points during the season)

Yeah I agree rypt, lets just hope Antony Davidson joins Brundle in the commentary team next year... he picks up more things from the race and has a higher knowledge of F1 mechanics than Legard will ever have.

Rubens must be dying to to clinch second place in the Championship at Abu Dhabi.. I've not watched the F1 forum before on the red button, but had to. Was some great viewing :D

I Didn't think very much or the people throwing stuff at Lewis though.

Well, sunama hasn't got long now before I go back and quote some of his 'greatest hits' spouting vitriol about "Journeyman" Button, the 2009 Formula One World Champion :D

:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

The problem is, that will never happen. A commentary teams needs to be made up of an expert in the field (Brundle and Davidson), alongside someone who is a good comentator, but doesnt understand (or atleast, portray that they understand) the technicalities. Its so they can spark conversations where Brundle/Davidson explains things to the other guy. Having 2 experts would not work.

Get Crofty off of Five Live alongside Brundle, much better.

Given that he didn't do as well as 2 of the chaps that started behind him, I'd say so too.

Well seeing as one had KERS for 71 laps, its not that surprising (and remember Kovi also with KERS allowed Vettel to get ahead of Button at the 2nd stop)

Jenson also did better than 11 other people ahead of him - for modern F1 whatever happens in the race , thats pretty impressive

Leggard is extremely annoying though, he's improved since the beginning of the season.. but is still annoying.

He dramatises every single detail of the race...

Barichello... here he comes!... he's around the bend!... he's on a charge!... he wants to win this one!... around the next corner he goes!....

I'm sure you get the idea :p Why hasn't someone told him to stop?

Leggard was particularly annoying during this race. Half way through he began the whole 'Jenson is looking good to be the Champion' stuff.

He just says the most uninteresting things doesn't he, constantly plays Catchphrase with us and says what he sees, we can see it too you fool! He randomly shouts in the middle of a sentence for no reason too..

It's the Brazilian Grand Prix.. It's Barrichello.... from WEBBER.. there they go!

Bring back Murray bloody Walker. :D

I actually think Brundle doing the "commentator" job and Davidson being the technical person would work really well - especially compared to Leggard (who is absolutely dreadful)

Remember fathead?

Legard is multiple times much less annoying.

Right, a quick taster of the wisdom of sunama regarding "Journeyman" Button, the 2009 Formula One World Champion :D

Oh man, this guy does not miss a trick. His job is on the line and he goes having a love session.

I would LOVE to see him at McLaren immediately...if only to see Hamilton humiliate him, just as he did to Heikki this year.

The very definition of a journeyman, though it looks like his journey in F1 is coming to an end.

Well, if you meant his journey towards the F1 title was coming to an end....you might have been a tad closer....

You cant compare the Button who won "that" race, witht he Button in 2008 - he has changed. He is demotivated and become a journeyman. He wants to use his fame to earn good money and sleep with as many women as possible. I dont believe this was the case, when he was doing well in F1.

Yeah, he's spent this entire year looking like a demotivated journeyman only out to pick up an enormous wage and sleep with pretty girls. Oh, wait....

It shows that he isnt taking his predicament seriously. He is having a high old time in sunny climes, where the rest of his team is worrying about their jobs are are therefore (hopefully) making provisions to deal with a situation of being laid off, should it happen.

Button seems totally relaxed. He just doesnt give a damn. This is exactly what would be expected of a journeyman - if his team goes down the pan, in part due to his own lack of ability to push the car to its limit, he wont give a damn as he doesnt have any real interest in F1. This is why I would love him to go up against Hamilton, as he would get humiliated.

Hmmm. Seems like he did a half decent job in the run up to this season in the end doesn't it?

If it were me, I would be doing heaps of simulator work (providing of course that the new car setups are available the simulator), getting myself used to how the new car handles.

I would also be telling me my agent to try and find me an alternate drive for 2009, just in case things dont work out. I would also be telling him to find me a competitive drive for 2010, just in case 2009 goes totally pear-shaped.

To say that a driver has nothing to do is quite simply ridiculous, as there is always something you could be doing, as a sportsman, to improve yourself. Going out to another country, far away from your base and hanging out with some floozey isnt one of them.

Bizarrely, he seems quite committed to his own fitness (not a bad thing), but he doesnt seem to committed to being fast in the car. To me, he has lost interest, probably as a result of driving at the back of the grid.

I'm beginning to think that you guys think that driving an F1 car is simply about getting in the car on race weekend and going as fast as you can. In the 1970s, you could do this and get away with it, but in 2009, you have to be DAMN good and work DAMN hard to win races.

Just LOL.

Easy tiger.

I'm not a big fan of Button either; I still believe he is a journeyman and is intent on enjoying the lifestyle that being an F1 driver brings, as opposed to being a true racer. In fact, if Rosberg moves to BrawnGP for 2010 and Button wins the title this year, it wouldnt surprise me if he were to quit F1. However, I don't believe that Button/Barrichello are "that" slow.

I expect Button and Rosberg to be of similar speed next season.

Again, LOL. As for Button versus Rosberg, we'll see if/when it happens. Personally, given your track record of late (didn't you predict RBR would be an epic fail as well due to the car being slightly late?) I think we might err on the side of having Jenson as favourite in that scenario ;)

I think that'll do for now :) Congratulations once again, to Jenson Button - the 2009 Formula One World Champion! And congratulations to Lewis Hamilton, the outgoing champion and a man who I dearly hope I'll see regain his title one day, on making it to the podium in Brazil for the first time!

I kinda agree with you, but couldn't Brundle or Davidson be the "commentator" instead?

I take it i missed this then? :(

Yeah you did :p

I have red the posts and the luck card hasnt been played you'll be pleased to hear Acid. Though it seems the evangelic mythical patriotism has arisen from the ashes and multiplied itself. Oh how I love the fickle ones.

Fantastic drive from both Brits today. A championship worthy one from Button and a previous championship winner one from Hamilton.
