International Friendlies - England vs Norway/Belgium [May 26th - June 2nd 2012]

Yeah, it's concerning really. There's no doubt he has potential but so far he's hardly done anything special (for Arsenal).

We run the risk of putting way too much pressure on him.

To be fair AOC has been used sparingly and in a number of different positions. There's no pressure on him to perform at Arsenal, if he comes on and changes a game then great, but we haven't been relying on him to do so. It'll be interesting next season to see how much more involved he will be.

If Barry ends up being ruled out of the competition can Roy call up Carrick? Or does it have to be someone on the stand by list?

Just watching Sky and they named the team they think Roy will play against France....

---------------Hart---------------
Johnson--Terry--Lescott--Cole
Milner--Gerrard--Parker--Downing
-------------Young
---------------Carroll

Then the pundit (Stuart Robson) named the team he would like to see play....

---------------Hart---------------
Johnson--Cahill--Lescott--Cole
AOC----Milner---Parker----Young
-------------Gerrard
---------------Welbeck

If Roy plays the first team then he needs to be sacked and Stuart Robson put in charge :p

Why have they called up a defender (centre half /rb ) to replace a midfielder?

Jag hasnt played in midfield has he?

Not that the press is right even 50% of the time, but I think thats what the extended / cut down squad lists were about wasnt it?

Roy initially released a longer squad - which was then cut to 23? players with x amount of stand-by's. With Carrick not on either, he wouldnt have been able to be called up at all (certainly what I understood to be the case anyway)

that's how i understood it, and why i could not understand him having no right back/holding midfielder cover.

if jones gets crocked then we'll need cover at right back and the holding midfield place, which there arn't in his standby list.

think that sky team looks about right, maybe swap milner to the left and downing to the right.

Can anyone explain to me why Micah Richard's isn't in? Is he injured? He always seems to be good, very quick and strong. If not injuries, then what? I mean, he put in Phil Jones, who let's be honest, is dire as a defender. Midfielder, maybe.

Nothing against Lamps, but glad its him struggling rather than SG

Without both, and with both it would be an absolute disaster - as long as SG stays fit England have a small chance of getting out of the group
