International Friendlies - England vs Norway/Belgium [May 26th - June 2nd 2012]

Same, Belgium have a really good side and surprised they aren't in the Euros.

Yeah, I don't know why we are quite such large favourites in this game. Belgium have a good squad.

Kompany
Vermaelen
Vertonghen
Fellani
Dembele
Hazard
Lukkaku

I think the bookies are giving about 5/1 odds on Belgium.

Personally I think Welbeck is a good player and if he sorts his finishing he will be great. He has worked on his linkup play and have some good skills to create space. Looking forward to seeing how he does today against a good defence.

Starting England team:

Joe Hart, Glen Johnson, Ashley Cole, Gary Cahill, John Terry, Steven Gerrard, James Milner, Scott Parker, Danny Welbeck, Ashley Young, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Not a bad looking side really

In terms of Belgium, having a quick look it would seem they have two issues, too few goals against the better teams(in a not quite "well du'h" kind of way :p ), and missing Vermaelen for basically a year.

They had more shots than Germany in the first game, and had over twice the amount of shots(on and off target) as Germany in the away leg yet lost 3-1.

They don't really have a top scorer, not sure how their fullbacks are really, as always a group of players don't necessarily make a good team. Lukaku hasn't score a goal for Belgium in a proper game yet(only 2 in one friendly afaik, two years ago), and Dembele only has 5 goals, and hasn't scored in over 3 years now.

Watching the Denmark/Aus game, one really horrible tackle late in on someones ankle, bit like Adam on Bale last year, surprised he's playing on.

Also got Mignolet, Defour and De Bruyne (and Van Buyten to a lesser extent) really good side.

why can England never hold possession? we either boot it or lose it on the halfway. even Belgium are trying to play.

as home team.we should be imposing onto this game right?
