International Friendlies - England vs Norway/Belgium [May 26th - June 2nd 2012]

Rooney is rubbish, check.
Young is amazing, check.
Gerrard is past it, check.

Probably copy and pasted from the last England game thread, and the thread before that, and so on and so on.

Rooney looked decent when he came on, some good play around the Belgium penalty area.

He could score 5 and DM would still call him rubbish. :)

Talk is both us and Chelsea have opened talks with him/Fulham (I suspect he'll choose Chelsea to stay in West London though and to now link up with Hazard)

England has to be the most boring team to watch. In fact, I only watched to see how Hazard played. :o

They can remain boring for all I care, 6 more performances like that, with the same result will do for me, although my stress levels may not take it.

Roy has made us harder to break down in 2 games than any other England manager has in a long time, and that was simply by adopting a different approach than 4-4-2.

England were very poor indeed.

Welbeck and Young did enough with terrible service

Gerrard and Parker did ok, but gave it away too easily at times.

Johnson ran with his head down into cul-de-sac's of opposition to many times (and the block right at the end could have ended anywhere - more luck than judgement) and gave away possession time after time

Ox did ok, but you can tell he is still very young and inexperienced - unlucky with his first shot (as he was falling at the same time), 2nd shot was better

Surprised Gerrard missed the first of his "double" shot, he really should have put that away (although 2nd was much harder).

Hart was WAY over confident with one back pass - I honestly dont think he would have gotten away with the "foul" given last night in the Euros. He should have just put his boot through it straight away.

Personally think England would have lost that game against a slightly better/ more experienced front line than Belgium could put out.

If Italy are as bad as their last couple of results suggest (despite more match fixing allegations against some of the squad), England HAVE to qualify 1st out of the group to avoid Spain , which is a very tall ask given the last few displays

Even if we avoid Spain and beat Italy in the quarter finals we're almost certainly going to face Germany or Netherlands in the semi finals.

I think this is the first tournament we've gone into where I don't even feel that we can cause an upset against a big team. :(

:( a team that once beat us and some in Northern Ireland will happily go on about till the end of time....

Least the current team is a shambles

Haha, on the way into town theres a pretty decent piece of grafiti artwork of Healy smashing it past whoever was the England goalie that day.

I think that and Healy's hat trick vs Spain and there last loss I think before that massive 35 game no losses streak some N.I fans will happily take to their grave.

thats as maybe but just getting to the semi's would be a massive improvement

Apart for a handful of moments that was all forgettable but the fans did amuse themselves in a novel way by creating paper airplanes. These were made from the white cards that were held aloft when the national anthem was played. They came down from all parts of the stadium throughout the match. I nearly had my ear taken out by a dive bomber. :D

Hazard vs england:

Was quite impressed, he doesn't overcomplicate and doesn't give the ball away too easily. Almost like mata but with a bit more dribbling ability. I imagine he'll get a tonne of assists next season.

England gonna win the Euro 2012, 2 wins in a row woohoo:p

im being sarcastic of course, we have played 2 teams who in all honesty bar a few players have been rubbish for a long time

its unfair to compare Internationals to Club level imo - but I cant see why he is worth £20m let alone £30m+ from last night

(with different players around him, and the fact he is very young - it wll be interesting to see how he develops - but imo next season will need to be a case of developing his skills to the speed/quality of the EPL, rather than already being a massive help to any of Chelsea's aims.

(Ie if the England side that played last night were an EPL team, they would be relegation fodder, ....maybe a little extreme :D but they certainly wouldnt be challanging for the title either)

Agreed, if that was the case you wouldn't buy Rooney, Scholes, Ferdinand or even Beckham for united because they only had or have a good game for England once in 5 or more games. :D

Hell Rooneys best game for England was when he played for Everton against Turkey. I don't think many can get themselves up for mediocre level football anymore, even less so the friendlies.

The best thing that can happen to your club is if your internationals pull out and have a summer break.
