International Friendlies - England vs Norway/Belgium [May 26th - June 2nd 2012]

I can't believe that 'the right way' is considered the way they are playing today and no, I'm not going on a rather lose and play well rant ;)
I think people are just saying it's the right way in terms of the players we have. We'd all love to to see England play a style of football that doesn't involve above head height, 15 yard+ passess every minute or two, but we simply don't develop the players to do that.

It's the major **** up with how the game is taught in this country at basically all levels. Who do we have that has the awareness, speed of thought, and is calm enough on the ball to know that in almost all cases there is a shorter pass on? Jack Wilshire? And who before that? Players like that are very few and far between for England sadly, so asking the players to show more technical ability isn't going to happen when they're not pushed to develop that side of their game above all.

Belgium sometimes hit it long but usually when fellani pushes up. and he usually wins the ball
we do it with welbeck or rooney up front hoping for a defensive calamity.

why do we try to play 30 yard forward passes from behind the halfway line. its like England have a phobia of carrying the ball past the line or playing possession i. the Belgium half.

Not really any standard out players although they've all done a job tonight. Looks like the two central midfielders are going to be used as anchors for the other attacking players so they're never going to look as dynamic as other players in the team.
